TORONTO — Quarterback Quinton Porter, who led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to an upset 44-38 win over the Montreal Alouettes last weekend, was named the CFL's offensive player of the week Tuesday.
Porter was 27-of-32 passing for 429 yards and five touchdowns in his second CFL start. He also ran for 42 yards on six carries to earn the unanimous selection.
Teammate Cameron Siskowic was named the defensive player of the week. The linebacker registered six tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery against Montreal.
Saskatchewan linebacker Sean Lucas and Montreal defensive back Matthieu Proulx were also considered for the award.
Tristan Jackson of the Edmonton Eskimos captured special-teams honours. Jackson returned eight punts for 101 yards, including one 67 yards for a touchdown, in a 36-22 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Jackson was a unanimous selection.
Teammate Calvin McCarty was named the top Canadian. The running back had 88 yards rushing on 19 carries with a touchdown and added eight catches for 80 yards.
Montreal slotback Ben Cahoon was a finalist.
