CIS 1-2-3 stay put

Canadian Press

OTTAWA — The Laval Rouge et Or maintained their lead atop the Canadian university football rankings, with the Queen's Golden Gaels and Saint Mary's Huskies remaining second and third, respectively.

Laval (5-0) received all 11 first-place votes for the fifth week in a row following a 67-7 rout of the McGill Redmen on Friday night. It was the largest offensive output for the five-time defending Quebec conference champions since destroying Sherbrooke 72-14 on Nov. 5, 2005.

The Rouge et Or, who have been ranked No. 1 in 45 of the past 46 weekly polls, are off to a 5-0 start for the fifth year in a row.

Queen's (6-0) and Saint Mary's (5-0) are also on track for undefeated seasons following weekend victories. The Golden Gaels annihilated the winless York Lions 80-0, while the Huskies rallied from a 23-point deficit to beat St.FX 32-26.

Saskatchewan (4-1) remained fourth in the rankings following a 37-3 win over UBC. Western (5-1) stayed fifth after trouncing Windsor 58-5.

Calgary (3-2), Concordia (3-2), Simon Fraser (4-2), Sherbrooke (4-1) and Laurier (4-2) rounded out the top 10.
