ok kkkk from Canada writes: Miller , the Goteburg game and the penguins affair was probably once in a lifetime oppurtunity for the swedes, thats why it sold out so fast. You can't do that 82 times a year in Sweden and in most places in nhl, especially if the Arena was for 20,000 people instead of 12,000.
Talent is one of the biggest factors in selling a sport. But as avery points out heroes and villains go a long way. Look at WWE their arenas have 80,000 people in them. Every single time.- Posted 03/10/08 at 2:44 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: This one is for Daniel Plainsview.... who suggested I was making it up when I suggested Avery's agent approached the Leafs this summer.... and the Leafs weren't interested.
Quote....
Wilson refused to react to comments made by Dallas Stars forward Sean Avery, who made disparaging remarks about the Leafs this week -- partly because they did not go after him as a free agent in the off-season.
Avery suggested the Leafs will be the worst team in the NHL this season.
"Why should I comment? I don't know Sean Avery," Wilson said. "He's entitled to his opinion."

Hap Stokes from Canada writes: Avery has something there.
Why does the NHL cling to Gretzky, Jean Belliveau, Yzerman image?
Who wants to watch the "O" man dancing along the boards in DC?
No more Mr Kleen-Cut Bobby Orr or that Kid Crosby stuff for the NHL!
Nope what we need is more WWE style excitement. Things like an Avery yelling match at Tucker during warm-ups. How about a few Dog Fights between periods. Or sell some cheap Meth instead of that over-priced beer. In fact what is wrong with 2 Gangs shooting it out, high up in the cheap seats. They used to do that in Rome and they had 80,000 fans to every fight.
Time for the NHL to remake it's image. If politicians can do it, why can't hockey players do it too?
You are a Great Thinker--- Sean Avery.- Posted 03/10/08 at 3:41 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

jp6635 trojan from TORONTO, Canada writes: what we do know is the avery has very little intelligence on the ice...the game does't need villains because it has bettman..we should put his on skates...BUT, avery does have intelligence off the ice...owners should FIRE bettman and hire avery in the front office after he's done being a wacko on the ice.

lol.... Left Bookend, that's just what I was thinking too...
Although I must admit that part of me would pay to see WWE Smackdown involving Georges Laraques and Sean Avery without all his yapping...
However, that would be wrong !
