  1. Eric Zubert from Sudbury, Canada writes: Congrats to Travis Snider on his first big league homer and second consecutive big game!

    So with Snider, Purcey, Hill(not this year but last year stats), Litsch to name a few in the big leagues and producing-- all being J.P. picks-- should the Jays upper brass give him one more year?

    Also I want to ask about the last part of the article under the following quote: "Danny Ainge is the youngest Blue Jay to ever homer, doing at 20 years, 79 days on June 2, 1979"...Is that the same Danny Ainge that played and now is the GM of the Boston Celtics?
  2. Juan Valasquez from Canada writes: Eric: That is the same Danny Ainge.
    He was baseball before he wisely chose the basketball approach.
  3. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Eric Zubert ..... yes Eric... same Danny Ainge... played about 4 years with the Jays as I recall.... then quit to pursue his basketball career.

    Cheers
  4. Eric Zubert from Sudbury, Canada writes: Cool. The things you pick up reading the globe sports section online.

    So how about J.P.? One more year since some of first round picks are producing in the big leagues now?
  5. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: I think they keep JP for another year....

    This team is good.... and doesn't require much tweaking.

    Keep Barajas and get rid of Zaun.
    Mench and Wilkerson can go.

    Pick up a good bat... and make AJ an offer.

    Howcome nobody mentions the fact that they haven't made an error for over 15 games... I know it's a BJ record... what is the league record?

    Cheers
  6. G L from Thunder Bay, Canada writes: Great pitching timely hitting with men on base and solid defence Generally equates to success. One has to wonder what might have been if they had played like this for most of the season
  7. Captain Ontario from Canada writes: JP blew this year in May/June.
  8. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: I think Snider has brought more to the Blue Jays than just his bat... The rest of the players see him hitting and their confidence goes up as well..

    Hell... a 20 year old is hitting this guy.... we should be hitting too.

    On a glass is half full level.... have you taken a look at their schedule for the rest of the season?

    TB.. 3 games
    @CWS... 4 games
    @BOS... 4 games
    BAL... 3 games
    BOS... 3 games
    NYY... 3 games
    @BAL... 3 games.

    They are in tough.... but if they keep playing the way they have been... Well at least they should finish ahead of the Yankees.

    Cheers
  9. Jesse Winger from Calgary SW, Canada writes: Yes, the Jays are on a roll and I'm pleased as punch that Cito is at the helm. The guys want to work for him, apparantly!

    Congrats to Snider, too. Wow, he's something else. And Litsch pitched a fine fine game.
  10. Popeye Dillon from North Vancouver, Canada writes: Thanks Jays for keeping the Red Sox in the hunt for nothing less than a wild card, and another championship.
  11. Patricia Timms from Canada writes: More Bosox World Series rings.
    While the Angels and the Mets seem to be the teams to beat this year, doesn't matter that trophy is going back to Halifax again.--Off course the 2 Chicago's ain't bad either.

    But Go Sox Go and don't forget to bring that shiny trophy to Trail BC either.
  12. Mr. Pink from the wet coast, Canada writes:
    Snider has made the best debut since Roy Hobbs. This guy has ballplayer written all over him. Outstanding.
  13. gabriel oak from Canada writes: Hindsight is always a clear view - but imagine what might have been if Gibbons had been shown the door by mid June. But too late - the losing attitude had calcified by the time he went walking. Instead, same mantra - wait till next year.

    Yeah - I was in Vegas last week playing roulette. Was down a few bills at first, but then my friend came and sat down next to me. Ended the day up a g. Too bad he didn't join me earlier.
  15. marc auger from Canada writes: There's something I don't understand, wasn't Gaston a guy that couldn't coach young players? I wonder where all the Gaston haters went to.

    This team will be interesting next year with all the pitching they have available to them. A full year of Gene Tenance and Gaston will hopefully bring the bats around earlier.

    Salutations Loucks! After reading your submissions, I thought
    of responding to my favorite.
    Here is my resolution to your conundrum.
    Literally.
    -if I'm filling it up I see it half full.
    -if I'm drinking it I see it as half empty.
    Figuratively.
    -I'm a bit of a pessimist,so half empty.
    Regards
  17. Yertu Damkule from Canada writes: let the man-crushes begin! if only the jays had hitters like snider at 1st. or 3rd. or RF. or SS. or 2B. or behind the plate. but yeah, WOOOHOOO, looks like the jays'll finish over .500, and maybe, just maybe, in 3rd place. which, i'm thinking, is the 'goal' of the uppity-ups anyway. it really isn't hard to be pessimistic about this team...great 'moments' & stretches of excellent play, then they forget how to hit...for games at a time...when the season actually, you know, means something.

    as for cito - glad he's back, hope he doesn't try to do to snider what he did to johnny O.
  18. Willard Kurtz from Toronto, Canada writes: I like Inglet, reminds me a bit of Reed Johnson. I wonder what another year for BJ, Lyle and Rolen to rehab/recover will do for them. Add Acardo, Jansen and possibly Hill (if he ever plays again poor guy) next year and some of the young guys like Snider and Lind into the mix and of course a top 3 starter and a 30 HR 100 RBI bat in the off-season and who knows. I know I know the same blindass faith every season but getting Gibbons out and seeing some of the young guys come in and mature is encouraging.
