Captain Ontario from Canada writes: The two ladies above obviously don't understand real football.
Giants D was impressive.
Big Blue is a very well coached team and Eli is becoming a star.
Can't wait for those games against Dallas and Philly.- Posted 05/09/08 at 10:25 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Howard Young from Canada writes: Giants football has always been about ball possession (eating up the clock) combined with punishing defence and a strong running game. Eli's offensive capability is the icing on top of the red, white and blue cake.
Jacobs is a monster, if he stays healthy, this Giants fan will be highly entertained this year.- Posted 05/09/08 at 11:28 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

E Stuhl from NYC, United States writes: Jacob is a montster, but I felt the Giants offense played down to their oppositions level, and relied on their D.
Can't wait to see Favre in green this Sunday.- Posted 05/09/08 at 11:47 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Patrick P-A from Canada writes: I'm a little worried about the 2 phantom picks Eli threw. Especially the one in the endzone when he threw to Toomer.

E Stuhl, Giants have always relied upon their D, they were the difference maker in the Super Bowl and they were almost the difference maker during the Giants regular season game against the Patriots (the one that almost ended their perfect season). I'm glad the G Men had a 2nd chance to make good, in the Super Bowl no less. Oh yeah! :)
I think Favre is going to play like a man who has something to prove this season.- Posted 05/09/08 at 12:14 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Patrick P-A from Canada writes: You can't have a secondary try to tackle Jacobs at the shoulders... that's more of a job for a linebacker!
He just runs over secondaries like they're not there.- Posted 05/09/08 at 12:15 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Howard Young from Canada writes: Patrick, I can only remember how the 1st one unfolded. Eli was under significant pressure and was about to be sacked. He should have thrown it away and risked the penalty (they were 1st and 10 at that time). Unfortunately, he lobbed it near a Washington defender.
Eli has been known to throw the odd interception, though he got a lot better as the season progressed last year. I'm not worried.- Posted 05/09/08 at 12:20 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Actually, I was watching this at a sports bar with 8 other people enjoying a few pints and traditional football food fare.
More sociable than you sitting on your La-Z-Boy with remote in hand.

Patrick P-A from Canada writes: Howard, that one was a case of miscommunication. Eli thought Toomer was going to cut across on a post route. Toomer decided to run a curl as the Washington defender was still rather far away from him. I'm guessing the play called for the post and Toomer improvised and Eli didn't recognize it. Had Toomer continued on the post route the defender could have stuck his hand in to disrupt the pass. Had Eli thrown to where Toomer stopped, it would have been a touchdown.

I think you mean "almost perfect season"
New England Patriots 2007 - 18-1, not bad given they were in a moribund division (Jets; Bills; Dolphins - collective WLT 33.33% vs nfl average 50%..) where they played each of these turds 6 times meaning an automatic 6-0, a gift not provided to other teams.
Let's put it in better perspective, Giants played in a division where no one was below 500, whereas the Patsies play in a division where no one approached 500.
Case closed
Still can't understand why everyone wants to have the Patriots baby, most overrated team ever.
Couldn't agree more about Farve (US pronunciation..) hopefully he'll shake things up in a weak division.- Posted 06/09/08 at 4:16 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
