Four more qualify for Canadian Open

Canadian Press

MILTON, Ont. — Calgary's Todd Halpen played near perfect golf during Monday's qualifying round at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club to earn a berth in the 2008 RBC Canadian Open.

Halpen, who recently turned pro, carded a 6-under-par 66, winning the right to play among the PGA Tour's professionals at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont., starting Thursday.

This year's Canadian Open will mark Halpen's second appearance at the event, as he previously earned runner-up honours at the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship to qualify for the 2006 Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Also earning spots via Monday's qualifier are Jacob Scriven of Uxbridge, Ont., Adam Short of Vineland, Ont., and Charlie Woo of Markham, Ont., who fired matching 67s.

With the addition of the four Monday qualifiers, a total of 19 Canadians are now set to compete the Canadian Open.
