  1. Rob C from Canada writes: JP has to go - at least Halladay (a Gord Ashe aquisition) is well paid - Jays fans aren't paid anything for this garbage
  2. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Knew this was coming.... I don't blame him. Remember what he said during spring training? We have to win the easy ones.... we have no problem getting up for the Yankees and Red Sox.

    That had to change.

    It didn't

    Cheers
  3. Ryan Hickman from Canada writes: Can you blame the guy?? He only goes out and dominates when he plays and then has to sit by and watch mediocrity for the next 4 days.

He'll walk when his contract's up...and not one Jays fan will be able to say a bad thing about him. He's been world class on the field and off.
  4. Celine Brown from Canada writes: Unfortunately, Halladay's on his way out. He'll either be traded for lots of prospects or will opt out when his contract ends. It's too bad he truly has been a classy guy from day one.
  5. Garry S from Canada, Canada writes: I would imagine Halladay will follow Sundin and head to teams that know how to build champions.
  6. D M from King City, Canada writes: His ex-team mate, Carpenter (let go by JP for nothing), has won with the Cards. I think it is time to let him go so that he can win a ring. He's been a real work horse for the Jays. Thanks for the memories, Doc!
  7. Another Opinion from Canada writes: Doc deserves better than the gong show that is JP and the Jays.

He works for under market value. He consistently delivers league-leading performance. He's endured horrible team management for years without complaint.

It drives me to despair that my hometown team would waste one of the greatest pitchers of the past decade. On any other team, he'd be a hero and the toast of the league. On the Jays, he's an oddity. A great guy with talent, humility and loyalty.
  8. Overtaxed and underlaid from Canada writes: I agree that if things aren't looking better (i.e. new GM, some hitters that actually care about winning) he should bolt. He's underappreciated playing up here - guy should have legions of fans, not just those of us who can hold their nose long enough to go to a Jays game.
  9. Sean O'Reilly from Kitchener, Canada writes: This type of article has circulated on numerous sites. I would like to actually see the interview.

Do I believe he is frustrated, of course. Do I see him making a big issue of it, no.

Media types are making this bigger than what it is. He was asked questions regarding the team.

It doesn't take a genious to know anyone, let alone the stud pitcher would be frustrated with the jays record.

I see a lot of negative spin going on, typical.

But I don't believe the correct story is being told.
  10. Ken Balderston from Toronto, Canada writes: I love ya Roy, but you're being paid to watch the mediocrity, I pay to watch it.

I agree with him checking out his options in 2010 though. If I had a job where the company wasn't very good and lost money, I'd leave too. Will be a sad day though.
  11. Bob Hamelin from Los Angeles, United States writes: Holladay will benefit from pitching in the NL, and the bounty the Blue Jays would receive for him could be the final cogs for a championship run. The Jays are strong at OF, and 3B with quality middle infielders and easily the best rotation in baseball.

I'd love to see them get another power bat out of Holladay and it could happen.

  12. Billy Talon from Toronto, Canada writes: I've been watching the Jays all year, so I'm pretty frustrated as well.

I can't begin to imagine how it would feel to play for this team and watch them continue on their path toward mediocrity.
  13. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Billy Talon.... ask Mats Sundin.

    Cheers
  14. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Sean O'Reilly from Kitchener:

A quote from an article by the best baseball writer in Toronto... Bob Elliot.

Halladay was asked how Groundhog Day star Bill Murray got out of the day-after-day rerun each morning. By slamming down on the alarm clock harder? He laughed nervously.

There is little more Halladay can do. He's 122-61 lifetime, winning 67% of his decisions since 1998, when he made two September starts. While Halladay is 61 games above .500 since 1999, the Jays are eight games over.

Since he returned from a trip to the minors in 2001, Halladay is 109-47 (almost a 70% win mark). The Jays are 12 games below .500.

He has been a sparkling jewel amongst cubic zirconia.

Those stats alone made his frustration obvious and it's about time he spoke up.

    Cheers
