Rolston signs four-year deal with Devils

Canadian Press

NEWARK, N.J. — Brian Rolston has a chance to finish his career with the NHL team that drafted him.

The veteran winger has signed a $20-million (U.S.), four-year contract with the New Jersey Devils.

He spent the last three seasons in Minnesota and scored 30 goals each of the years.

Rolston was drafted 11th overall by New Jersey in 1991 and was part of the Devils team that won the Stanley Cup in 1995.

In 977 career games with New Jersey, Colorado, Boston and Minnesota, he has 286 goals and 634 points.

Under CBA rules, all four years of the 35-year-old's contract will count against the Devils salary cap even if Rolston decides to retire before it expires.
