Raptors selected as parent club for D-League's Stampede

The Canadian Press

BOISE, Idaho — The Toronto Raptors and the Portland Trail Blazers will be the parent club teams for the NBA Development League's defending-champion Idaho Stampede for the 2008-09 season.

The NBA teams can assign rookie and sophomore players to their D-League affiliate. The Seattle Supersonics and the Trail Blazers were Idaho's parent teams last season.

“The D-League has become a very valuable resource for NBA teams to identify talented players and coaches who are ready to contribute at the next level,” said Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo. “We are pleased to be affiliates with Idaho as they have a stellar reputation for both their business and basketball operations.”

The Stampede are entering their 11th season.
