Andrew Perry from Halifax, Canada writes: I don't believe I've seen as good a two way team since the '76/77 Canadiens. The Penguin's transition game; as quick to the backcheck as to the attack, one feeding from the other, and the sheer ferocity with which their young stars approach the game is a lesson for all teams and all players.
We are watching the blossoming, I think, of the post lockout philosophy engendered by the competition committee, and likely a move of the leagues power base from west to east.
Detroit and Pittsburgh may well give us a series for the ages, and I look forward to watching some fantastic hockey.- Posted 19/05/08 at 9:45 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Agree, Andrew Perry from Halifax:
Should be a great series.
Both teams are talented, well coached, tough and disciplined.
But only one has a local on it....
So, Go Pens!- Posted 19/05/08 at 10:58 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Guess that depends on what you call "local" Mr. Miller.
Draper grew up right around the corner from me and frequents one of my locals during the summer.
Cleary is a good old Newf.
Guelph and Kitchener are pretty local as my parents are in Kitchener.
Alberta and BC are well represented. Manitoba as well....
And you can almost call Deerborne Mich. a canuck (almost).

R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Given that I was addressing a fellow Bluenoser, Mr. Loucks, I think that it would clearly go without saying that Cole Harbour, NS is more "local" to Halifax than say.... Vasteras, Sweden.
Nevertheless....

Montgomery C. Burns from Springfield, Canada writes: Uncharacteristic of Penguin teams, this one is actually playing good defense. Even their forwards backcheck. This is the most balanced Pens team that I have ever seen.

Nick Wilson from Toronto, Canada writes: Very good comment from Andrew Perry. I concur with that. On a different note, I think it's a good thing that coaches like Therrien aren't afraid to rant about their players. Players should not be allowed to run a team and to decide of the fate of a coach. In Montreal they got Therrien's head like they got the coach's head so many other places. That non-sense has to stop. Players are the employees, coaches and GM are the management. Kudos to coach Therrien for standing up to the players when it was the time to do that. Have you ever noticed that everytime a coach is fired, they have a burn no bridges approach in their press conference? Coaches should not be afraid to call players publicly and Therrien's rant was the right approach. Like in the good old days.
Sorry for a Leafs comment, but I think Therrien is exactly the kind of guy the Leafs need. He would not have been afraid to call out Mats Sundin who has always put is personal stas ahead of the team interests.- Posted 20/05/08 at 12:43 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
