    As an english Canadian from outside of Quebec I feel humiliated and abused by this clear favouritism towards La Smell Province. If the government (any government) would send me some money I would feel much better and perhaps even watch the final despite where it's played.

    And we'd be proud to host the Latvians and the Slovenians. Or the Egyptians and the Panamanians.

I saw countless holding, high-sticking and interference penalties by Sweden that weren't called in today's game. For awhile, I also thought they weren't going to call that high-stick that cut Spezza. The reffing is inconsistent at best; I'll admit that.

    Or, are you trying to say that the refs were poor in the Czech/Sweden game which allowed the Swedes to win?

    The Czechs were okay but fell to Sweden and Russia in the group stages and then Sweden again in the Quarterfinals. Canada and Russia have dominated and are undefeated -- a fitting final for two excellent teams.

    A lot of hard work has gone in here -- kudos to Halifax and Quebec City, Hockey Canada and the IIHF.

    Look into the history of the IIHF if you want to learn something about the history of the international game -- rather than post random comments equating IIHF with th UN, etc.

    By your reasoning -- do the Americans know more about hockey than these vague "EUROS"? I mean no disrespect to USA Hockey, here.
  22. There's a War between those who say there's a War and those who say there isn't from Canada writes: The article states that Russia and Canada are two perennial powerhouses - but this is very much mistaken. Russia has NOT won the gold since 1993 and has not been in the final since 2002.

    I think McGregor is perputating the mythical rivalry of 1972 and the powerhouses of the long gone Soviet Union.

    Its time we give the other teams their due: Finland and the Swedes to some degree and the Czechs in particular.
