Franzen to miss Game 5 against Dallas

Globe and Mail Update

DETROIT — Detroit centre Johan Franzen will miss his fourth straight game when the Red Wings face Dallas in Game 5 of the Western Conference final Saturday.

Detroit general manager Ken Holland says Franzen has been cleared for light workouts. But Holland says Franzen would need to practise with the team for a few days before returning to the lineup.

Franzen has scored a franchise-record 12 goals in the post-season.

He was scratched from the Red Wings' lineup for Game 2 against the Stars and missed the next two games as well because of concussion-like symptoms. Franzen has had recurring headaches dating to early in the conference semifinal.

Detroit can advance to the Stanley Cup final with a victory on Saturday.
