Gogh Forit from Canada writes: Say what you will about the Americans but they do treat murder as a serious offense unlike here in Canada where we do more to protect teenage murders than any other country including European Nation. If Mr. Taylor had been killed in Canada this defendant would have served no more than six years in custody and that would be if he had been convicted of 1st degree murder. For 2nd degree murder I think the sentence is watching videos without popcorn.
    He plead guilty because he knew that the likelihood of being convicted was very real and with good behaviour he might only do 20 years instead of life.
  2. Umm... Toronto from Canada writes: And yet the American's punitive system exists along side one of the worlds highest murder rates. In other words, it's not a deterant. Not saying our sentences aren't a joke, but the American route is obviously not the one to follow.
  3. Ryan Hickman from Canada writes: What a waste of a life! The sentence certainly fits the crime. What these guys were thinking at the time is beyond me. Get out there, get a job and live a law abiding life. It's not rocket science. I hope he learns his lesson...too bad it came at the expense of another's life.
