Dave Miller from Montreal, Canada writes: Purely just health?
I doubt it, though I think that Pittsburgh is simply well ahead of schedule. They would've been there a year or two earlier.- Posted 15/05/08 at 12:28 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

D W from Switzerland writes:
2008 is more than a chance/fluke accession of these two teams to the Cup finals: Detroit HAS after all won 3 Cups in the last decade and about 6 Presidents Trophies, while Penguins flew from worst to virtually first since drafting Crosby in 2005; again, it is more like the Islanders-Oilers meetings of 1983 and '84 -- the established top NHL team vs the rising newcomer, with the veterans getting a final shot as favourites before the youngsters emerge as best in the NHL ....- Posted 15/05/08 at 5:02 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Trilly B from Canada writes: Health certainly has a lot to do with it, as does speedily dispatching opponents in the early rounds. Add a healthy mix of skill and playoff experience, and you've got yourself (hopefully) a final for the ages.

greg panke from Canada writes: The Wings are the class of the league, the only team that is always in the hunt for the Cup. I thought the Sens were on the verge of similar status, but they will have to do some work to get up there.
The Pens are a more typical team, some really poor years resulted in some very fortunate drafts, in combination with good coaching and healthy players has them doing very well. Once their draft picks reach unrestricted free agency status they will face the dilemma of all the other teams, and the true test of management will be seen. Now that the Pens are picking new players late in each round their future will be a lot more uncertain.
Odds are the Pens will face similar problems to all the other higher ranked teams and have their good and lesser years shortly. In the meantime they are a lot of fun to watch, an NHL team playing hockey the way it should be played. It should be a great finals!- Posted 15/05/08 at 11:35 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Lowen Wrainger from Canada writes: This has been the best playoff hockey in a number of years and 3 of the 4 teams are from around the rust belt. There's hope for Toronto yet!
