Scenic Sask! from Canada writes: John Stanton from Canada writes: Ah well, he is human. Doesn't help when you're losing big time. A close game would surely mean more concentration, and so on. If he gets back to his Montreal days, that would be one less struggling batter, although he Ks a lot still, but is great at working the count.
Yeah anyway, obviously if they can get some offense, things could easily turn around. Being an Expos fan, slowly moved to the Jays (although I liked em when they had Delgado, Green, etc. and Tony Batista, who then was an Expo for a while.) I always remain optimistic.
.......................
Yeah John, I ddn't like to see Batista go to Baltimore, and he hurt us while with them! When Green was traded to LA my wife gave up on the jays, I watch alone these days, some pressure at times as to what should be on our TV.
The way the Jays are playing I can't bear to watch anyway!
Though, having radio for all games, and TV for most (I've missed only 23 games in the past twenty years (over 3200 followed) ......I'm knowing now how Cub fans feel! ('cept for the # of years with no WS win)- Posted 10/05/08 at 10:43 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Clean house including Poocho Ricciardi, the guy is so arrogant and conceited you'd think he had the pedigree of Theo Epstein or Brian Cashman.... more like Wayne Cashman....(no offense to Wayne).- Posted 11/05/08 at 12:40 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Lorne Carmichael from Canada writes: Very tough times . JP has totally mishandled this team . They have absolutely no one to turn to in the minors for position players , which to me is the most glaring problem created over Riccardi's tenure ..... no minor leaque system at all . So I hear Wells is going to stay with the team as a cheerleader for the next 2 momths . Two months with him clowning around ? I would tell him to stay home and see if a serious , more professional attitude might become a part of this squad . Surely there are some kids birthday parties where his childish antics would be a better fit .

J L from Canada writes: Lorne Carmichael from Canada-Lorne your absolutely correct.Where's the young talent in their minor league system either the at Triple AAA or Double AA level? There's not too much you can do about injuries you would have thought that they would have had some young talent in their minor league system..Let us hope that the pitching holds up or else I am afraid this could ba very long season for the blue jay fans.Rios,Overbay,Hill, Stairs and Roten have got to start knocking in some runs.

Cole H. from Toronto, Canada writes: I guess no one should be excited about minor league players like Travis Snider, Brett Cecil (both at AA New Hampshire) or Justin Jackson (playing A ball in Lansing). These guys aren't gonna be up this year but these three guys are very legitimate & highly regarded prospects.
The Jays don't have the deepest well to draw from for their immediate needs but they do have some very good players in the system - to suggest they have "no minor league system at all" is completely absurd.- Posted 11/05/08 at 3:10 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Two Creeks from Canada writes: a very sad state of affairs. I wish someone could explain what has happened to this team. They had injuries last year but also had success at the plate and pitching. They are playing without any interest in winning - why do they bother to show up?

Proud Canadian from Canada writes: I see nobody has brought up the subject, and I know it was all involving money and lots of it, but since they let Frank Thomas loose, its been one downhill spiral not? I do not follow baseball at all, (not into watching paint dry) the game is too slow for me, but they have the team on paper but paper is good for 2 things. Shredding and starting a fire.

SY GIL from TO, Canada writes: When JP was first hired, the complain was the budget. Now that Ted has opened up the wallet, at cable subsribers' expense, JP has blown the money away by giving Thomas the 2 yr $10M/a yr contract with the 3rd yr. option, by signing Wells to a contract richer than Delgado's - one which JP protested vehemently at the beginning, signing Rios to a long term contract when he's only had one good year, ditto for Hill. Now that the money's blown, he's now bringing in journeymen or retreads. It's time to get rid of some of these underperformers such as AJ.

Cole H. from Toronto, Canada writes: SY GIL, J.P's mandate at the outset was to slash the payroll - he did that & consequently is wasn't economically feasible to keep Delgado given that mandate.
Ted Rogers later opened his wallet for the Blue Jays & J.P. was given the go ahead to pursue the players he wanted. Whether or not YOU like the decisions he made personnel wise is of little consequence when looking at the big picture. YOU were not entrusted with Ted's money - J.P. was. Let's not sully the facts with your own revisionist & horrifically skewed history.
Ultimately, If this season is later judged to be a failure, then you can revel in Ricciardi losing his job - until that time don't try to spin things in such a way that distorts the facts.
I say all this as someone who has had a fair share of differences in opinion with Ricciardi's regime.- Posted 12/05/08 at 1:00 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

SY GIL from TO, Canada writes: LOYAL blue jay fans, let's face the truth. many of JP's personnel decisions are not exactly panning out, I do not have distort anything when Wells since signing the huge contract has done essentially nothing, injuries aside. The bad news is Halladay does not seem to be the stopper anymore. He's also injury prone at least the last couple of years he has not been able to finish the season.
Another of JP's pick Russ Adam seems to have disappear out of the picture completely. Accardo looks like he's suffering from overusage last year. He's been completely ineffective this year. He 's turned into a Jason Frasor. Meanwhile, the mightly hitting machine has come undone. Looks like it's going to be a long long summer.- Posted 12/05/08 at 9:18 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
