P Martin from St. John's, Canada writes: Unfortunate, but not unexpected. Unless the Blue Jays pitch well, they usually lose. And even if they pitch well, the offense is letting them down. This was another game that RISP was less than average.

Mike B from Canada writes: I think we will probably see about 81 games this year where their RISP will be below average. But the good side is that we will probably see about 81 games where their RISP is above average.

capt. peachfuzz from Canada writes: There is something wrong in Blue Jay land, there is no way that 90% of the lineup could go in the tank at once.Their bats seem to weigh 50 pounds the way they are swinging, most have been reduced to power singles hitters. I would be inclined to suspect that it is either instruction,or training methods that are at fault.

THE LAKEMAN from N.S., Canada writes: Capitain Peachfuss: I agree with you, there is something really wrong with the Jays but I can't put my finger on it. I truly believe that a number in the line up have attitude problems and maybe are protesting against management decisions or method of operation to this point. There are nine hitters and they have 27 outs to work with and there is no way everyone can choke at the same time almost every game. Another possibility is we really do have a talented bunch of ball players but they just can't hit anything that is challenging. We have had the problem on a consistent basis for all of last year and to date this year so I guess the latter is the problem.

Dwide Schrude from Canada writes: What's with Rios and Hill lately? They both stink all of a sudden. They both went 0 for last night and haven't hit anything in the last several games.
Wells, Stewart, Zaun and Overbay go out and make it happen and the other two stars are playing like bush leaguers. If it ain't one thing on this team, it's the other. Unfortunately this team is like a V-12 engine in an old Jaguar. It looks good on paper, but in reality it costs a lot of money and never seems to be firing on all cylinders.
Meanwhile, Boston is on a tear and we're now 5.5 games back. At this pace, we should finish the season roughly 30 games out of first in the AL east.

John S from takeapillville, Canada writes: Didnt see the game last night but it offhand I'd say that a 5 game win streak gets forgotten pretty quickly. And I dont mind saying it again, the Rays are for real. They are bonafide contenders and they've definitely got the Jays number. At this point the Jays should concentrate on just getting win against them and then after that 2 out of 3.

Knowledge is True Opinion from Canada writes: I think this loss was more encouraging then some of the wins lately. They showed a little battle, scoring runs in the bottom half of innings to close the gap. Sure, it wasn't enough, but they have shown little, to nothing, offensively during the win streak.

Knowledge is True Opinion from Canada writes: Did anyone else think they were watching a commentary re-run from the last Rays series? give me a break!
It was awful, and in some case plain WRONG. Example, Rance I believe it was the third was remarking that if Rios throw to the cut off man the runner wouldn't have advanced to second and they wouldn't have been in as much trouble. WHY WOULD RIOS EVER DO THAT? He had a legitimate shot at getting the runner at home, if fact he should have gotten him, it was a bad throw. To make such stupid comments when you have hind sight is ridiculous.
And yesterday, when the umpire hesitated to make the call on the backwards double play, the brain trust, came up with an explanation that he wanted to see if the force out was still in play. IT DOESN'T MATTER YOU IDOITS. If he tagged Zaun, then he tagged him , force out or no force out. The tag (even if they can get the force out) take precident. The umpire made a mistake he shouldn't have hesitated. Not that the hesitation matters all that much, but the ridiculous commentary is getting out of control. I have no doubt Rance knows baseball but these other monkeys are hopeless.- Posted 07/05/08 at 11:36 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Also, I don't mean this in a mean spirited way but I got a kick out of the ranting poster who spelled "Idiots", "Idoits". It's pretty funny when people insult another's intelligence & completely bungle the spelling of the insulting word.

L. W. from Greener Pastures, Canada writes: Devil Rays pitcher did a fantastic job last night. That was a great performance, and had nothing to do with the Blue Jays bats. A poster on the previous days game made a comment that some Jays fans would still complain if the Jays won the world series. I really don't think that poster knew just how right he was.

Andrew Berthoff from Toronto, Canada writes: It's too bad that the team and the fans have to suffer with that patchwork plastic field. It's not only an embarrassment to Toronto and Canada, it's downright dangerous.
Yes, injuries can happen of course on grass and dirt, but having multi-million-dollar athletes forced to dive and slide on that stuff is like forcing thouroughbred horses to race on concrete.
Please, sell the concrete "facility" (a toilet is a "facility") at a profit (easy considering what Rogers paid for it) and construct a park made specifically for baseball. If you build it they will come . . . and more players might stay off the DL.- Posted 07/05/08 at 8:33 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
