I guess it's not just Toronto that has negative, angry, unintelligent and just annoying people...guess they live all over our beautiful and wonderful country!
Yes, I live in Toronto, have always lived in Toronto, was born in Toronto and will probably die in Toronto....this is a great city, however, if you do happen to live here, that is unfortunate as you bring this entire city down....if you don't live here...please do us all a favour and stay wherever the hell you are!- Posted 06/05/08 at 1:58 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

No Comment from United States writes: For an aspiring NHL player, Toronto does present the advantage of having a lot of openings on the top two lines. :)
It would be a nice coup for Toronto to sign this guy. Coupled with a good first round draft pick and Toronto's fortunes could be looking more positive than they have been in many years.- Posted 06/05/08 at 2:05 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

You're right. I have no problem with T.O. stockpiling thier roster with young players. Whats the worst that could happen?? Some of these kids can be total busts or they could become valuable players to the organization. If Leaf management continues to bring in young players and give them a shot at the big leagues, they will eventually hit a hidden gem somewhere along the way. After all, its a lot better than all of the has beens and washed up UFA's they have acquired in the past. So I welcome with open arms the Tlusty's, the Stralman's, Kulemin's, Brunnstrom's and 2008 draftpicks. Lets hope the Leafs get lucky with one or two of these guys.- Posted 06/05/08 at 2:22 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Sounds like the type of player that will need good players around him. Probably a bust in the NHL all together, definitely has no idea what he's getting into if he ends up with the Leafs.
His best bet would be Detroit.- Posted 06/05/08 at 2:42 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

No accountability. Big contracts for underachievers. You can miss the playoffs 3 years in a row, still get a packed house and be treated like royalty around the city.

To comment on his ability or where he might end up playing is one thing, but to refer to Toronto as a "cesspool"? C'mon! Toronto might be a lot of things, but a cesspool - I think not.

Have the Leafs sign Sean Avery, and get Gene Simmons to buy a villa in Mississauga, where they all live together with the babes from the Swedish Bikini Team. Gene and Sean take Fab Fabian out on town. He buys a chopper, goes shopping for clothes in Yorkville, gets a tattoo, does jello shots with Don Cherry. Can The Fabulous One really play hockey? Who cares, this is showbiz!

This guy will be good maybe and definitely not great. Comparisons to Forsberg are so unrealistic. He is a late bloomer who has done well recently. Lived in 5 countries, been in 50 more. Lived in 4 States and worked in 45 more. Lived in 7 Provinces worked in all 10 plus all over the GREAT Northland--Yup even lived in T.O almost 5 years (ssshhhh).
If you think Toronto is so great, you should see the rest of the world. Especially either the East Coast or some 15,000 ft high mountains on the West Coast of your own country. Or try some of that great food on St Catherine Street. Methinks: Montreal has Paris beat nine ways to a Sunday picnic for the super great grub goodies Toronta buddy.

Unless I missed something Hap, the only thing AWHTC pointed out that the previous commenter was spewing bile and vitriol as he insisted that that is all Torontonians do. My CV and travel experience stack up pretty well against yours, and while I'm currently living abroad, will always be proud to call Toronto home for it's food, fun and cultural diversity. Despite many claims to the contrary, have rarely met a person in Toronto who was not open to, embracing of and proud of all Canadians. Yup really do like the people and the city too.
Except for the 1st time I was in Scarborough when I was 14.
Right of a NS farm, first time in a town over 10,000--
It was a cold day and I went into a coffee shop to warm up.
A smart city slicker (con artist) stole my mothers gift of a wrist watch
I took it back after a coffee cup to the EAR put him to sleep.
Toronto's Finest put me in jail for a day and gave the crook my watch.
They gave that lying shyster my mothers watch and threw me in jail.
What injustice huh?
Still bitter over that damned watch. Never cheered for T.O. since.
