John S from packalunchville, Canada writes: So in answer to those who maintained that the manager cant do the actual hitting and therefore should not be fired: This (lineup juggling) IS what he does (among other things). And it was a fairly decent if not inspired bit of juggling. Gotta love the addition of the gutsy Rolen. He just might single handedly extend (save?) Gibbons' career as a Jay. Time will tell but I hafta think JP got the best of that trade....Nice to see Eckstein sit for a game too. Hopefully the rest does him good. Wouldnt it be great to take 2 of 3 from Boston?

Matthew Goff from Toronto, Canada writes: For sure we are a more potent team with Rolen in the line up. Despite Glaus's gammy foot/leg/pick your lower appendage, he was still an RBI / HR threat batting behind Wells, Rios and Frank...and we have not had that this year up until Rolen came in. Given that you assume their numbers will be similar (say 25 HR, 85 rbis), we really were missing a vital production player. Rolen isn't the saviour of the season, but he is going to be damn important to our success. Who knows, it just might be the glue this team needs - you know, kinda like the all important player that makes the team greater than the sum of its parts.
As for Gibbons, well I would give him a few more weeks. But some stuff has to stop: starting with days off for young athletes in the first two months of the season.- Posted 28/04/08 at 1:39 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
