Andrew Perry from halifax, Canada writes: I'm sure he know that the Vezina was named for another Hab's goaltender as well, the first in that long Bleu, Blanc et Rouge line.

R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Carey Price already seems to have the composure of a seasoned veteran.
In fact, part of Gainey's brilliance as a General Manager is his ability to pick players who are not just good hockey players but good people... Notably draft picks like Kyle Chipchura and Carey Price
This is a throwback to the philosophy of the Bowman-Pollock days where even a talented Hab could earn a one way ticket to the St. Louis Blues.
Gainey would likely never pick players like Sean Avery or Ray Emery regardless of how much talent that those kinds of players might think that they have.

R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Agree with the last poster...
It is refreshing to see the quality of the sports writing take such a dramatic jump for the better in the G&M...
Keep up the excellent work, Mr. MacGregor...
Go Habs... Go Pens...

ryan rankin from Canada writes: There are a lot more imp people/issues out there deserving of such recognition.... There is something very disturbing about grown men idolizing kids who stop rubber disks for a living. Yes, I know, hockey is our national game, it's an art form.... Hockey's great/entertaining, but isn't there enough hockey writers/commentators on staff?

Derek MacDonald from Sudbury, Canada writes: Hey Rankin... The media is a huge, if you don't like reading about Sports - then don't read it. There is plenty for you in the home and garden section, nobody is forcing you to do anything.

Paul I from Rochester NY, United States writes: Rankin- Why did you bother reading the article? Just so you could register a complaint? OK-we heard you, now return to the Style section.
Kudos on a great article about a kid with a very interesting story. I remember writing during all of the uproar associated with the Huet trade, that Price was special and more than worthy of the top spot. His style is incredibly fluid and yes, he will continue to have some bad games and make some bonehead plays but he will be one of the all-time greats. Imagine if he plays 15 more years.- Posted 26/04/08 at 11:41 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

ryan rankin from Canada writes: Sorry for the delayed response. I was thoroughly enjoying the Style section, especially Amy Verner's 'Shirts, shorts, shoes'. Wonderful.
I should have been clearer in my critique, fellas. Roy MacGregor, who's column title is 'This Country', has been writing seemingly forever on the hockey playoffs. My point is there's more to this country than just hockey. As a Globe reader that irritates me a bit.
At the same, I'm looking forward to another Philly, Montreal nail-biter.
Last Wednesday's thorough, two-page spread on the unsolved Elizabeth Bain murder case, made me proud to be a Globe subscriber....- Posted 26/04/08 at 1:19 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

John Stanton from Canada writes: Price has a GAA of 4.25 the last 4 games. And oh by the way, he has played one year. Let's try not to crown him the next Patrick Roy just yet...ha ha. Seems like Huet was that guy!

R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Pathetic post, John Stanton!
Carey Price leads the league with 2 playoff shutouts, is tied for the lead in most wins and is fourth in GAA in the entire league...
Huet is already out of the playoffs...
BTW I couldn't find Emery or Gerber on the top playoff goaltender list...

Paul I from Rochester NY, United States writes: Rankin- Good point about the G&M. If you read any American paper other than the Big Three (NY Times,LA Times, Wash.Post) you will be glad there is a paper the quality of the Globe and Mail. I have been reading Canada's National for 35 years. I even read the Style section.
I apologize for my snarky response.
Not much of a nail-biter last night. Price was very weak last night. Carbo must be considering a start for Halak in Philly.- Posted 27/04/08 at 11:05 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Fred Draper from Kingston, Canada writes: Let's face it, it's a "newest is the bestest" world. That explains why Timbaland's latest can muscle out some Beatles classics on the 100 Greatest Songs of All time list.
So I'm a bit surprised that Patrick Roy is NOT leading the companion poll to this article, "Who is the Canadiens all-time best goalie?"
Must be those Historica minutes they showed in school... November 1, 1959... Montreal Canadiens' Jacques Plante dons a mask for the first time and changes the face of hockey FOREVER!

17 goals in 5 games isn't going to win you many cups. They better hit the open nets more on Monday night or Carbo's funky tie may be wrapped around their collective necks!- Posted 27/04/08 at 5:48 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
