George E. Porgie from Canada writes: Cliff might just be back to run this operation in 2009....if so, I would count on Paul Maurice to be retained as coach.
However,by the words out of Cliff's mouth...evryone is tradeable at this point except Toskala. But when push comes to shove, I would think he is tradeable also as Pogge is close to surfacing in the NHL.- Posted 07/04/08 at 7:40 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Proud Canadian from Canada writes: George Hall. Answer Nobody. Tampa will keep their pick Im sure, they may make a deal later in the draft, but I think Stamkos goes to Tampa.

Henry Allen from East Bank, Don River, Canada writes: "As for details, well, as Fletcher said a rancher told him in the 1980s, when Fletcher was trying to turn the Calgary Flames into a match for the Edmonton Oilers, 'the corral is full of horses, but you can only bring one into the barn at a time.'"
You betcha, Cliff, you bring the horse into the barn one at a time when it's time for inseminating or gelding. McCabe and Tucker are two you can start with, no matter which of the two jobs you've got in mind.- Posted 07/04/08 at 9:27 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Sandy T. from Canada writes:
Fletch says...
"The message is simple: The team is going to get better," Fletcher said. "It's going to be a team starting next October that [the fans] are going to become excited about and be able to become proud about again.
"It doesn't happen overnight."
Overnight, eh? Well Cliffie... I've been a hockey and a Leaf fan since I began watching back in '56-'57. I have to admit, the first ten years or so were pretty good, BUT... you'll forgive me if I point out that I've heard that quote above or variations of it many, many, many, MANY times over the past four decades and I'm afraid you're going to have to show me now - words ain't gonna do it again.
I stopped watching this team for about four years back in the late '80s/early '90s and I can do it again (Remember Russ Courtnall for John Kordic? Even to this day I'll run across a list of former players and think "Hmmm... I didn't know HE was a Maple Leaf"). Giving them the cold shoulder again really wouldn't take a lot of effort, since they're already fairly easy to ignore on most Saturdays when HNIC rolls out Bob Cole-"Now with EXTRA Greg Millen!" yet one more time, apparently with orders to send everybody watching into a coma.
So it's time to put up or shut up MLSE. You're definitely on notice here and I doubt I'm the only long-term fan feeling that way.- Posted 08/04/08 at 11:45 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
