This team has a bad record of not locking things down and it's good to see them making a foundation for the future. They should have signed Roy Halladay to a 20 year deal worth 400 million.

  3. Yertu Damkule from Canada writes: getting hill for that long/that little is a great move. i'm not as sold on rios, and won't be until he hits off-speed stuff w/ more consistency, but overall, it's important to lock up their key, young players, not just for what they bring, but also for the message it sends to FAs - that the jays aren't willing to sit on the sideline any longer, that they're willing to open the wallet & spend, which will (hopefully) allow them to compete in the AL east.
  4. Shades of Grey from Canada writes: Fantastic. Great news on both of the signings.

All we need now is a better coach, Gibbons is responsible for at least 5-6 losses a year with bad pitching moves.
  7. M Hastings from Toronto, Canada writes: Wow! The signing of Aaron Hill will go down as the best move of Riccardi's reign, which will hopefully end at the end of this season. Hill is about to emerge as the Jay's best position player and they just got him signed to a seven year deal at $36 million and the last 3 are risk free! Never thought I would say this about a professional athlete, but Hill is UNDERPAID.

  9. SY GIL from TO, Canada writes: I only hope that the Rios' deal does not have a mccabe clause, ie, no movement. I am not sure Rios is that great defensively and he tailed off considerably after the injury. Would have been nice if they were able to swing him for a top notch starting pitcher.
