  1. boom boom from Canada writes: Spooky quiet on the left coast tonight! Nucks go gurgle.
  2. dan vanman from vancouver, Canada writes: Just what we need when our team loses an important game, some Eastern hack calling us fools.

Bet you never called Laff Nation that, eh Mathew?

Lots can happen, and the Canucks would welcome the Wings instead of the Sharks, as they have a better record against them.

But now they have to get in.

So, we'll stay positive Mathew, and try to rise above your insult. The blue jerseys were worn by most of the rink, not just the players...so...maybe chose another word. Smart hack writer like you, that shouldn't be a problem...right?
  3. M Poland from Canada writes: Canucks would be a better team if they added, maybe, two impact players. The first would be a defenceman; big, great shot, fearless. I am thinking Ed Jovanovski; The other would be a power forward; tough to move from the crease, sort of like Todd Bertuzzi...... Smells like burnt toast to me ...
  4. J. Anthony Skuce from Vancouver, Canada writes: Was at the game. 'Nucks can't win if Luongo is going to blow like he did tonight. They played a solid first period while the Avalanche snoozed, but after some crap goals to even the score, the home side was outplayed the rest of the way. As for the reference to the writer of the article being a hack, I have to agree. What was that garbage about the Canucks' chances now being "fledgling"?? Fledgling doesn't mean weak or distant or fading. It means brand new and untested, like the a frikken fledgling eagle. Get a dictionary. There. I've distracted myself from the fact that the Canucks' goaltending is officially like the Senators' these days.
  5. warren standerwick from North Vancouver, Canada writes: The Canucks would be better if they could trade the "best goaltender on the planet" and his 7 million dollar salary next year. Luongo, whom one of the Vancouver sportswriters says is one of the five best players (not restricted to goalies) in the league and gives the Canucks "an incredible competitive advantage" is 1-5 in his last six games with a ga avg of 4.00 and a SV% of .870. At least he got the "incredible" part right.
  6. dan vanman from vancouver, Canada writes: Guys...guys. I admit, I listened to the game at work, but lets not crucify Luongo, OK? He has had a very tough last few months with the family issue.

The defence is also not as good as they were earlier this year.

The loss of Ohlund is huge, and hasn't been discussed enough. The goalie can only stop the first, and has to work with his D' to keep the second one away. Or, the goalie has to trust the D' to take the pass, and he'll get the shooter on the two on one...you get the idea.

Though, I have to say guys, Luongo hasn't looked like the world beater he did last year.
  7. Maximilian Widmaier from Vancouver, Canada writes: Luongo hasn't had his best couple of weeks, but you fools demanding he be traded now are the biggest bandwagon retards I've read in a long time. You're letting your emotions get the better of your reason and whatever part of your brains inhibits your moronic vomit reflex.

There is a very real possibility the Canucks will miss the playoffs this year... get over it, they would have been crushed in the first round anyway. This will lead to changes, hopefully for the better. Trading Luongo is not one of them.
  8. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Still hope Vancouver fans.... not so much for Edmonton and Toronto.

Tough road for a week or so. Nashville coming back from 3 zip on St. Louis was a back breaker..... and your players knew it going in.

Like I have been trying to preach to the fools out here.... you start building in the new salary cap world from the goalie out.

You pay your top 3 D and your top 6 forwards.

Vancouvers problems mimic Toronto's (believe it or not). Your top 6 forwards are not worth the money they are paid.

Good luck... at least you still have a chance.

    Cheers
  9. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Here is a carrot for those of you who whine about Leaf coverage.... there is a grand total of 6 posts on the two Leaf threads.... and I made half of them.

It would appear that the posters have finally figured it out.

    Cheers
  10. Michael Peters from Toronto, Canada writes: Not saying I 100% agree with you, warren, but Luongo HAS been aweful of late. Tried to listen to the game last night but couldn't make it. Saw the highlights this morning and...zoiks! Flopping aroung like a fish out of water. Anyway, despite how bad he's looked lately, I still disagree with the idea that Luongo is what's wrong with this team. Sloppy defensive play and a vanishing top line. Good bye, Marcus.
  11. Jasper the Black Lab from Vancouver and Elsewhere, Canada writes: Really, why would we want this team to make the playoffs? Losing the next 2 games might be the only way to get the message across to Dave Nonis that there actually are gaps and flaws.
  12. Michael Sharp from Victorious, Canada writes:

    So.

Early on it's VanCity 2, Colorado nothing and St. Louis is leading Nashville 3-0.
Then it all goes horribly wrong.

Aren't the Sedins and Naslund UFAs at the end of this season?
    That's a lot of salary.

For apparently not a lot of heart.
  13. Hugh Draper from Vancouver, Canada writes: Please be advised: The statistics of the regular season mean nothing in the playoffs, which are a whole new season starting from scratch. So even if the Canucks had a better record against Detroit in the regular season, they will now be facing a premier team (Which is what the Canucks should be) playing with intent.
  14. MQ9 Reaper from Canada writes: Just call it a day and come back refreshed and stronger next year guys. No point stumbling backwards into the playoffs just to get blown out in four by the Wings.
  15. Johnny Red from Canada writes: What's the matter with Luongo? He's been moving in slow-motion the past few weeks.
  16. Larry Hill from Canada writes: I just don't see any consistent desire to win. It certainly is not a shortage of talent on the bench.

Nonis has gambled on a stay-pat hand that resembles a busted flush at the moment. I truly think that he was already thinking next year.

Vingault's strategies are simply not working either.
  17. Jasper the Black Lab from Vancouver, Canada writes: I saw a lot more "quit" than grit and determination in those expressions on the ice and behind the bench in the 3rd period, even when the score was 3-2.

Luongo may self-repair for next year. The Sedins are fine, and I wouldn't mind seeing Morrison back. Even Linden might play again if he sees a ray of hope. Just about every other forward except Kesler and Burrows are expendable.
  18. The Economic Hitman jr. from Canada writes: Excuses are hopeless, and hope is not a strategy. The story of the Canucks this year has been too little too late. Sure, it's still possible they could squeak into the playoffs; but, does anyone really believe they have the gumption, the consititution, to make a serious run at the cup?
  19. Ron Joseph, P.Eng from Trail, Canada writes: wow like we should be beyond caring, let's hope they lose both of their next two games and we won't have all of the absurd 'knucklehead' mania to deal with at all.
  20. Brad Reddekopp from Hazelton, British Columbia, Canada writes: Unacceptable. Heads are gonna roll. At least, they'd better.
  21. Hello There from NukCouver, Canada writes: Every time I watch they win.

I hope they win for the bc economy....

....let the beer flow to the finals....please....for the economy!
  22. Fred Heff from cowtownCalgary, Canada writes: Keep the faith Canadian hockey fans !

Maybe Calgary will lose the last game on purpose just for you to keep the Predators out

    Go Canadian hockey !
  23. steve allan from Canada writes: Luongo's been dreadful since his little family crisis. The whole thing would have been avoided if his wife had lived with him in Vancouver instead of in Florida with her family, but this is what you have to expect from Italians.
  24. Jasper the Black Lab from Vancouver, Canada writes: Hey, Fred! Maybe the Flames will lose the last TWO games, and not make it at all.
  25. steve allan from Canada writes: ----Johnny Red from Canada writes: What's the matter with Luongo? He's been moving in slow-motion the past few weeks. -----

He wants the season over with so he can spend time with mama and the bambino. It's so Italian.
  26. Dakota K from Calgary, Canada writes: I am looking forward to seeing the Flames eliminate both of their two most vehement detractors. First we put the knife into the back of Edmonton’s comeback, now we have the opportunity to land the knock out blow to the ever arrogant Vancouver. What a great ending to the season it will be!
  27. Bill Smith from Canada writes: I look at this as a mercy killing. I don't think Nonis is the guy to rebuild this "team". First thing I would do is talk to Montreal about a trade for Luongo for Carey Price. Luongo would go home to Montreal and Price would come back to B.C. which should make both of them happy. We have been down this road before where players marry American girls who dread the thought of moving to Canada. This causes trouble at home and the players can't wait till the end of the season so they can move back to the wifey's home. My advise to Canadian team managers is check out who the player is married to before you make a trade.
  28. j q from Canada writes: Steve Allan's resorting to ethnic stereotypes to rationalize criticism of a player says more about himself than anyone else. Spout all he wants, but no should be paying any attention. Pariah!
  29. Blair . from Vancouver, Canada writes: Steve is an idiot.

If your wife is having a difficult pregnancy, where should she be? In Florida with her extended family or across the continent with a husband who is often away traveling for work.

Agree with every forward being expendable except Burrows, Kesler and the Sedins. Maybe Morrison at a home town discount in a 3rd line centre role. Nonnis is going to have to blow everything up for the second time in 3 years. Giving coach V "tough-to-play-against" grinders with no finish like Isbister and Ritchie was a mistake. As was not bolstering the defence when it became clear your supposedly "best top 4 in the league" would be decimated by injury, slumping and not able to contribute anything to an anemic power play. Should Nonnis have been targeting Campbell and not Richards at the deadline?
  30. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Blair;

I have it on good authority that one Bryan McCabe will be available this summer.... or at least a Kubina. A poor man's Campbell.

    Cheers
  31. Jasper the Black Lab from Vancouver, Canada writes: I said on these boards in September-October that when Brad Isbister scored 40 goals, Nonis and Vigneault would be hailed as heroes. It didn't happen.
  32. boom boom from Canada writes: Ah, smell the fresh cut grass Nucks. Get used to it, there's plenty where you're headed!
  33. Larry Hill from Canada writes: Not a moment too soon. They have already missed a good month of golfing out here on the West Coast.
