  2. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Nice to see someone reads my posts.... do I get a cut?
  3. Andrew Perry from halifax, Canada writes: I recommend a reasonable charge of C4 with frag , on the bus, just after they lose to the Hab's on Saturday; wait not the players bus, the VIP management bus.

If you gotta blow it up, start with the key positions right?

    What's that knock on the d........ .............................................................................

  4. for what its worth from nanaimo, Canada writes: Makes sense. Getting one pick out of every thirty in the draft, if you have all your picks, won't be a quick way to rebuild all on its own. Not to mention with drafting teenagers, the team will be waiting for some time for the vast majority of draftees to be NHL ready.
  5. D K from Canada writes: Another Leaf article from Shoalts. At least he got something right:

"....... the Leafs are not going to be much good next season..."
  6. Pat Billings from CDN, Canada writes: Shoalts says "....... the Leafs are not going to be much good next season..." but I'm going to endlessly report non-news events about them.
  7. Arec Bardwin from MLSE LA LA LAND, Canada writes: I don't know what this reporter is smoking. The leafs have the deepest crop of prospects, the best defense in the league, a perfect captian, and the solid footing of being the greatest team in the last fifty years. Next year not only will they win the cup (AGAIN), but the presidents trophy too.
Shoalts, can't call himself a real fan.
  8. Baldy Cotton from Canada writes: Thanks, Shoaltsie, for spending another column on regurgitating what everyone already knew. Enlightening! As for the people who are "bleating" about draft, draft, draft . . . you can't do those other pillars you so eruditely outline if pillar 1 (save yourself a draft pick) is frittered away by jejune jerkwater GMs. Have another, uh, fritter, and keep boning up on your capology talk.
  9. Kevin Dooley from Canada writes: I think that the course for the Leafs is clear. We should trade away all of our draft picks for the next 41 years for every aging lackluster backup goalie we can get our hands on. Then we should find a couple of mediocre players on the roster who happen to have scored an above average number of points this year for the first time ever, and we should blow 90% of our salary cap on them. And then we should just sit back and wait for the cup to come bouncing into our laps.

Oh, wait, we tried that... well maybe we should bring back an incompetent GM from a previous era when the Leafs sucked... oh wait...

I swear, the ghost of Harold Ballard still haunts this loser club. Let's just bring in an exorcist to clear out the ghosts and start again from scratch.
  10. Allan Hewitson from Kitimat B.C., Canada writes: I agree with the sentiments of many posters in the last couple of weeks. For goodness sake, Globe&Mail, re-assign this scribbler, or give him something else of more significance to obsess on.
I read newspapers have experienced the greatest drop in advertising in decades. Maybe it's not the internet, maybe it's in part due to the goofy repetitive (who cares!) content. Don't take chances, widen Mr. Shoalts horizons soon. There's a wide world out there...

Plus, the chances of new management bringing new ideas is unlikely if they are hired by old management, who will be looking for people who agree with them.
  11. Alfie Didn't Choke.... Like Really... from Canada writes: The big question is, who would want to come to this crappy team now? Who would want to invest the next 5 to 7 years of a career here, on this crappy team, that's crappily run, by crappy bureaucrats who treat their fans like crap, hoping that they might actually get their act together and do something positive? I used to be a leaf fan until about two years ago. I've had it with this goofball selfish franchise.
  12. John Gallant from Charlottetown, Canada writes: I logged in to this story because it was about the Leafs. For all you crybabies who are ticked cause nobody cares about your team then don't log on. You probably cheer for a team that the Leafs have to subsidize. Sort of like hockey welfare. If it wasn't for your minor league cities trying to play with the big boys we could spend our way to glory. God bless the Leafs. Just wait till next year. Cliff will get it right this time.
  13. Alfie Didn't Choke.... Like Really... from Canada writes: John Gallant: the only thing I'd say is, well, they had many years where they could spend their way to a championship, and that didn't quite work out so good, did it. The team has missed the boat in the cap era, thinking that if you spend right to it you were making the most powerful team you could, but not leaving any room to maneuver as the season went on. Even after a couple of woeful results, JFJ continued this terrible strategy, this year in desperation really (signing tucker?? please!). Rip the team apart, start over and legitimately suck for a couple of years, get some great draft picks. Of course Teachers will not allow this to happen. Welcome to the machine!

  15. Eastern Rebellion from Orillia, Canada writes: The only player I would buy out is Tucker. However, if Kubina can't be traded in the summer, something will have to be done to either get rid of him or McCabe; they both play essentially the same game, and they both can't play on the same team.
