    Well, except on that birthplace of hockey issue and the idea that Sid Crosby is a 'hot dog,' but other than that?

    This kind of premedicated and unprovoked attack on a hockey rink in junior is an assault by definition. These incidents are simply bad for the game and do nothing to market our national sport to any larger audience. Why not enjoy the game for the actual hockey skills of the players?

    Coaches who encourage such behaviours should have no place coaching nor owning a QJMHL franchise....

    This should be strike number 2 for Mr. Roy...

    Too much basketball going on down here for the ESPN folks to worry about hockey.

    He's right though, sending a player to go beat on the opponents goalie (who wasn't involved in the fighting and didn't even throw a punch) is just ugly. Coaches should behave better then that.

    The difference is that cameras were rolling and it involved Patrick Roy. We all know Don Cherry, the #1 leaf shill, will go to any length to take some shine off the Habs franchise.

    When he drops the act and comments seriously on something, he comes off as moderate and intelligent. I remember an interview he did a few years back (can't remember the magazine) where he made insightful comments on everything from hockey to the infamous 'Iraq war' show of CC.

    The problem is that people pay Cherry the big bucks to act like a big loudmouth clown, so he gives everyone what they want. Don't judge anyone you see on TV until you see them out of the spotlight is the moral, I guess.

He is the Canadian TV version of Tim McCarver, Crown Prince of the irrelevant observation. I know it is too much to expect a tandem like Tom Cheek and Jerry Howart, two of the best ever in any sport. But please do not make us sit through endless afternoons and evenings of Tabler's nonsensical prattling on. Jesse Barfield shows promise on CBC and Darren Fletcher would be an upgrade from his current 5 game commitment. Please, please, please no more Tabler.

He should look at old films of himself when he coached the Bruins. Did his players never fight? If one of his players backed down from a fight, Cherry was all over that player.

    Fighting should never have been allowed in hockey; however, over 100 years of rules and referees never managed to curb it. penalites of 2 and 5 minutes were and still are jokes. In any other professional sport, it results in automatic ejection and often in suspensions. If hockey wants to be taken seriously, they need to outlaw fighting completely and bring in harsh penalties in line with what other major sports use.

    Kudows to Campbell for working to improve, everyone in any line of work who has only been at it a few years, should welcome advice.

    He's okay and getting better all the time. Conversational is always better in baseball. Just watch a Dogers game with Vin Scully and you'll see a master at work.
