Raptors sign Linton Johnson

Canadian Press

TORONTO — The Toronto Raptors added Linton Johnson to the lineup Thursday, signing the former San Antonio Spurs forward to a 10-day contract.

The team waived veteran guard Darrick Martin to make room for Johnson.

The six-foot-eight, 205-pound Johnson has averaged 4.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 14.7 minutes in 139 regular-season NBA games. He spent time with Chicago, San Antonio, New Jersey, New Orleans and Phoenix.

The 27-year-old was a teammate of Raptor forward Rasho Nesterovic on San Antonio's 2005 NBA championship team.

He also played in the Continental Basketball Association with Rockford Lightning (2004) and in Spain as a member of Tau Ceramica (2007).

Johnson played in six games with Phoenix this season after signing consecutive 10-day contracts with the club Feb. 22 and March 4. He scored a high of six points in nine minutes versus Memphis on March 11.

Johnson played four years at Tulane University, but went undrafted.

Martin had seen action in 17 games this season with the Raptors, averaging 1.6 points, 1.2 assists and 8.3 minutes.
