Mike Witcher from montreal, Canada writes: What I would like to know, is why Luongo's
wife didn't have the baby in Vancouver?
Is this a snub of our health care system and of our country in
general? Do we have another Chris Pronger on our hands?- Posted 27/03/08 at 4:35 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Larry Hill from Canada writes: Dont think so, Mike. Her pregnancy has been described as "difficult" and "complicated".
Her family and her doctors are in South Florida. It would be very difficult for any woman to start over with a new doctor, let alone if there was a delivery that was high risk. I dont know if you have kids or dealt with a prenancy to a close friend, but I have been at the birth of two daughters and two grand children.
Believe me, even under normal circumstances you want your partner to have full confidence in her medical staff.
If I was Lui, I would be doing exactly the same thing.- Posted 27/03/08 at 4:51 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Too Much Rain from Canada writes: This sucks! It's getting comical the way these injuries have plagued this team all year.
As for Luongo, his wife's family is in Florida too...if she would've come to Vancouver, she would've been in a situation dealing with a tough pregnancy all on her own as Bobby Lou was on the road playing hockey. When the kid is allright and stable, I'd bet she'd be moving to Vancouver.- Posted 27/03/08 at 4:58 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

MQ9 Reaper from Canada writes: I think Luongo should be given the space he needs to enjoy this time with his wife and new child. Take the pressure off him and leave it off, even if the Canucks don't make the playoffs this year. Next season he'll returned a lot more determined and focused, not to metion without distraction. I'd be happy to trade away a stumble into this year's playoffs followed by being swept in the first round for a powerhouse-type season next year.

Larry Hill from Canada writes: I certainly agree with the first part (about Lui), Reaper.
As for the second part, I really think this is what Nonis was counting on when he sat absolutely pat at the trade deadline.
(That would be a lot easier to take, than he had no clue what to do........)- Posted 27/03/08 at 5:42 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Mike R from Canada writes: Larry, I am all in favor of a man being by his wife’s side during pregnancy, but….eight Months ago, it was July 2007. Is this how the conversation went? “Roberto, I am pregnant!” “That is great honey……” “Why don’t you live in Florida with your family, and I live in Vancouver?” “What about the playoffs Roberto?” Oh, don’t worry honey, I will tank the season at the all star break, then really tank the season with two weeks to go in the season when the baby is born. This way, the Canucks will miss the playoffs and I will have an extra long off season in FLA with you and the new baby.”
My Question is: Why is she not living in Vancouver in the first place? A fool could plan eight months into the future. Fly mom and dad up to be with the wife while Luongo is on the road if loneliness creeps in.
I of course do not know the whole story, but it does reek of selfishness to me.- Posted 27/03/08 at 6:46 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
