  1. Rene L from somewhere, Canada writes: Although I think Patrick's jersey should be retired - at some point the organisation has to come to the realisation that you can't retire each and every jersey of great players who have played on Stanley Cup teams. Let Patrick wait a few years if for no other reason that the timing is not right...
  2. Pat Billings from CDN, Canada writes: St-Patrick's 33 should be retired. He is the link between the Flying Frenchmen teams of the 70s and today's generation of fans. Besides, no goaltender was more dominant than him.

This is the Habs, we honor our greats. We don't need to create a Dave Keon situation among the Habs tight knit family.
  3. david s from Montreal, Canada writes: First let me say that I think Roy ranks amongst the top five goalies of all time and was a huge clutch performer. No Roy, no '93 cup and probably no '86 cup. That being said, I don't think his number should be retired. He quit on the team and that's unforgivable.
  4. Alberto Bayo from Canada writes: Wait a couple of years, then retire Roy's "33" The Colorado Avalanche retired "33" already. Patrick Roy may not be a great man, but he was a great, dominant goalie.
  5. Arturo Bandini from Canada writes: You need more than great performances for such an honour. Roy abandonned his teamates and Hab fans because he didn't get his way in one game. Let the Avalanche retire his number.

Your assessment is half correct. Only the Laughs would retire an idiot's jersey. That organization would not know class even if it ran them over!

ex- Easterner from Calgary, Canada writes: Read the list of names of the 14 retired Habs numbers and you will recall they were all class players and individuals.

Roy doesn't even come close to any of the retired players and it would be an insult to them and the team and the legions of Habs fans everywhere to retire his number.

He quit the team after losing his temper for not being pulled in an 11-1 loss. He embarrassed number 33; he didn't honour it.
  8. Jude Hannaford from Canada writes: I do not expect to see 33 retired next year, but as they say time heals all wounds. We will see 33 up in the rafters eventually, but I would suggest that it will be later rather than sooner.
