Frank Thomas says it's not easy being a DH in the spring - that without the usual access to things like videotape he has during the regular-season, all he can do is sit in the dugout between plate appearances and watch the game.

"Not even an exercise bike," Thomas said.

"There is no routine."

Thomas did take some satisfaction from the fact his first home run of the spring was to dead-centre.

"I need to get back to using all fields again," he said.

Thus speaketh the Hurt ...
