  1. Brian Sherman from Toronto, Canada writes: On the pump-fake foul call: I really think the NBA needs to make this an "area of emphasis" as soon as possible. If the shooter does not go straight up, or fadeaway, it should be either a no-call or an offensive foul.
  2. Khan dor from Canada writes: Over the years, I've seen plenty of times when the official makes this exact call you're talking about ... an offensive foul when the defender jumps straight up and th offensive player initiates the contact by stepping into the defender's vertical plane as he descends to the floor.

Problem is ... very simply this ... when the defender does not jump straight up and down but jumps forward (left or right) and, as he returns to the floor, initiates contact with the offensive player ... who has, in fact, faked in one direction AND then, after regaining his balance, elevated into his shot attempt which intersects paths the original defender ... which should properly be called as an offensive foul.

Good officials make the right call, either way, depending on which of these two different scenarios actually happens in the game.

Bad officials can't tell/don't know the difference.
  3. Khan dor from Canada writes: Morris Peterson was and is not a great basketball player; not by a long stretch. But, that said, what he was ... as the longest serving Raptor on last year's team ... was a player who was willing to Rebound, Defend, Drive to the Basket and play hard unselfish basketball through some difficult times as a member of the TORONTO RAPTORS ... which included a trip to the 2nd Round of the playoffs.

When Colangelo decided to exchange Kapono & Delfino for MoPete, this past summer, I said at the time that three things were going to happen this season with this year's version of the Raptors:

    i) they were going to win fewer games than last year, e.g. 35-45
ii) they were going to suffer in terms of Rebounding, Defense & Free Thow Attempts, on the Wing
iii) fans of this team would soon realize that Colangelo had made a mistake with these two acquisitions.

Today's date is March 24 ... and the Raptors are 35-35, tied with the 76ers for 6th place in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately, with only 12 games left in the regular season, it seems as though, I've been proven right about each of those three things.
