  1. Alberto Bayo from Canada writes: Wow....a seasons sweep of eight games against the Bruins. Get out the brooms. Sweeeeeeeeet. Price stood tall against that wicked slapshot of "Chara the giant" in the shootout and our own Captain, Saku Koivu nets the winner. Nice to hear the extra loud cheering for Koivu....the games hero. Sens and Devils both lose as well. A good Saturday. GO HABS GO
  2. lost ontarian from Canada writes: Hey Albert, where's the thank you to the Leafs? Glad the Habs won but wanted them to close it out a bit more effectively in the third. Price played well.
  3. Alberto Bayo from Canada writes: O.K.....a "tip of the hat" to the Toronto Maple Leafs....Keep playing the youth and get an owner that keeps his nose out of "hockey affairs". You're right about the Canadiens not closing out the game. Thomas played better and the Habs PP wasn't too effective. Komisarek's size was missing as well....Cheers, lost ontarian.
  4. The Habs from Toronto, Canada writes: Quite funny to see the laff fans cheering on the Habs.

Komisarek being lost for a few weeks hurts. 2 points to remain tops on the conference, all that matters.
  5. Mariposa Belle from Leacockland, Canada writes: Alberto - I have to question this shootout thing, certainly after watching Chara come in and blast a slapshot from the slot with the sole intent of injuring the goalie (that's how I saw it).

Price was in pain afterwards, but he certainly kept his focus - good work. I think trying to wire a shot through the goalie in a shoot-out is disrespectful and a cheap shot.
  6. Robert Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Sweeeettt is right... The Habs are #1 in the East...

They need to keep their foot on the gas, however...

My alternate team, the Pens, also won handily 7-1 ...

Glad to see that the Leaf fans are still enjoying their playoff hunt...

PS... I couldn't agree more, Mariposa Belle ... I have seen a couple of those types of play this year... The league should do something about that kind of idiocy in the shootouts?

Imagine what would have happened to an opposing player who intentionally tried to hurt Dryden in the 1970s...
  7. Alberto Bayo from Canada writes: Mariposa Belle......It did look like Chara tried to blow it right through Price. He's a big kid...but that's got to sting somewhat. Kind of a cheap, discourteous, shot. Maybe they shouldn't allow slapshots in the shootout under a certain distance, although I'd prefer no shootout at all, and a ten minute O.T. period with a tie game as an outcome if no one scores. Chara was probably pretty upset about being undressed by AK27 on Thursday and the Boston clubs general performance against the 'Tricolore' this season, but that's no excuse for firing a 90mph shot almost point blank.....
I've read and enjoyed your posts in the Sens and Leafs threads......Cheers
  8. Jake ---- from Canada writes: Thanks Habs, you couldn't of won this is regular time.
  9. George S from Toronto, Canada writes: Unbelievable! My Habs at this position in the standings this late in the season. Hopefully they stay close to the top so they get a good draw for the first round of the playoffs and Komisarek comes back strong and healthy for the post-season. Go Habs!
  10. Dave T from midwest, Canada writes: A lifelong Habs fan, I am one step closer to watching a Habs game on tv after vowing never to watch the Habs play again on the day they traded Patrick Roy.
  11. Al MacDonald from Cathedral of Hockey, Canada writes: Way to go Habs! Asleep by times in the 2nd but a win none the less and still #1 in the conference. Need the win against Ottawa coming up. Imagine being in that net for the shoot out and seeing Chara winding up on you point blank from inside the slot. Holy Crap! Good on you Price. Bet you felt that one. Nice to see Koivu net the winner as well. Going to be a great game against the Leafs next week.

    Go Habs Go!
  12. Rain Couver from Canada writes: Merveilleuse, mes Canadiens!
  13. Swifty J from Mtl, Canada writes: That was a really good game, for the most part. Too bad the Bruins finally got some goaltending vs. the Habs, but glad it wasn't enough to get them 2 points. And the Bs' tailspin goes on... which is always something to warm the cockles of a Habs fan's heart.
  14. Legman22 In Montreal from Montreal, Canada writes: The slapshot by Chara in the shootout had a single purpose...hurt Price and maybe he'd be lost to injury, and with that, any hopes the Habs have of success in the playoffs. Classy organization those Bruins. Imagine someone doing that to Giguere or Brodeur. Think Brian Burke or Lamarillo wouldn't be screaming blue murder and bush league? A rule has to be made that there are no slapshots in the shootout unless taken from the top of the circle. But of course, the NHL will bury it's head in the sand, just like the no touch icing. Idiots.
  15. John Hidden from Puntarenas, Costa Rica writes: Ca sent la coupe....

It smell like like another Stanley
  16. brad maddigan from Canada writes: Entertaining game. Price was again the difference as the Bruins seemed to be playing with a little more urgency. That being said, Montreal should have won this in regulation. Note to hockey players, in the last couple minutes of a period the ice condition is not as good as the start. Hence, when you have a breakaway concentrate on getting a good shot before the bad ice causes you to lose control. If Higgins remembered this he may have at least gotten a shot on goal in his shorthanded breakaway.
I like the way the kids are playing. Ryder is becoming a 2 way force out there. Hopefully Komarisek will be back soon. If the Habs can beat Ottawa tomorrow, they will almost have the divisions sewn up. I like their chances. Ottawa is going into the playoffs again with out a goalie. Gerber gave up some nice juicy 10 foot rebounds kinda like Marc Andre-Fleury. As a player, you have to love goalies like that because you know there are going to be chances.
  17. brad maddigan from Canada writes: Forgot to mention the Chara slapshot. Brutal, when is the NHL going to make some kind of rule on this.
  18. Ziggy . from Canada writes: Legman22 In Montreal from Montreal, Canada writes: Imagine someone doing that to Giguere or Brodeur. Think Brian Burke or Lamarillo wouldn't be screaming blue murder and bush league.
No need to imagine, Brian Rolston was stopped on a slap shot by Brodeur in the shootout about two weeks ago. There was no such reaction. Of course Lamarillo doesn’t wear a skirt. Both Chara and Rolston will try to score in this way as it is their best weapon. Shannahan has tried it and here’s a surprise Sheldon Souray has as well.. I don’t think Haley Wickenhauser has tried it, but then again, are the women permitted to raise the puck?
  19. Dennis O'Keefe from saskatoon, Canada writes: If you go back 35 to 40 years you will remember that Frank Mahovlich often took a slapshot on breakways at point blank range and no one complained about it then.
  20. Swifty J from Mtl, Canada writes: It would be really stupid for any player to waste a shootout attempt to try to do anything but score. Is Chara stupid enough to do that? Is Julien stupid enough to instruct him to do so? Maybe, but Chara was almost certainly just trying to score.
