Antropov out at least a week

From Thursday's Globe and Mail

Nik Antropov will miss at least one more week with his knee injury, but there was no prognosis on how long his Toronto Maple Leafs teammate Carlo Colaiacovo will miss because of his latest ailment.

The often-injured Colaiacovo did not practice yesterday after suffering a hamstring injury in the first period of the Leafs' 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Toronto coach Paul Maurice said that more tests were needed to determine the seriousness of Colaiacovo's latest setback.

"We'll have an answer [this morning] on him," said Maurice, whose team will visit the Buffalo Sabres tomorrow.

Colaiacovo, 25, has been limited to only 101 games in five seasons with the Leafs because of injuries.

Captain Mats Sundin, who has missed the past two games with a groin injury, skated in sweats before Toronto's noon-hour practice and still is experiencing slight pain. He remains day-to-day with the ailment, but is unlikely to suit up against the Sabres and is questionable to play in Ottawa against the Senators on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Antropov revealed that he has a partial cartilage tear in his knee.

"It's a small tear," said Antropov, who added that if his condition doesn't improve by next week, minor surgery would be an option. "The season is not over for me. Hopefully, I'll be back next week."

The Leafs have eight games remaining in the regular season. They sit in 12th spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference standings, six points out of the eighth and final playoff position, held by the Philadelphia Flyers.
