Roberto Alomar wants to go into the baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays.
"Yep, that's my goal. Nothing tops those two World Series, and if I get inducted, it will be with a Toronto Blue Jays cap," Alomar said Thursday, speaking on a conference call to announce the retirement of his number 12 onto the Rogers Centre's Level of Excellence at the home opener.
Alomar had tremendous years with the Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles and played with the San Diego Padres and New York Mets, and players do not get to choose any more which hat they wear on their plaque.
Instead, the Hall of Fame exercises a great role in deciding the hugely symbolic hat.
If he is voted in, Alomar - who is eligible for induction in 2010 - would be the first player inducted with a Blue Jays cap.
