Canadiens call on Halak to start once again

Canadian Press

MONTREAL — Jaroslav Halak is getting another start for the Montreal Canadiens.

He's coming off a shutout win over the New York Islanders and will be in goal Tuesday when the St. Louis Blues visit the Bell Centre.

Halak has given up only two goals in two starts since he was recalled from AHL Hamilton on Feb. 26, when Montreal traded veteran Cristobal Huet to Washington.

He's served as Carey Price's backup since then but earned another start after making 30 saves in the win over the Islanders.

"He deserves to play again," said coach Guy Carbonneau. "He played a really good game after a tough time. He was impatient to play."

The 22-year-old was 10-6-0 last season when he was called up late in the year.

He is now a perfect 8-0 in career starts at the Bell Centre.
