On T.J.

Globe and Mail Blog Post

Once again I've got to rescue myself from myself. Fortunately I do have practice.

As a number of emailers and commenters have pointed out, I was surprisingly supporting of T.J. Ford's stinky fourth quarter last night:

Thing No.7 read: "When the pro T.J. faction is making their case, they enter his fourth quarter as evidence, I’m guessing."

Of course I meant just the opposite. If you put the word 'don't' between the words 'they enter' you'll see what I intended to write. Somehow I didn't write that. You see how hard writing is? You miss four measly letters and boom! A sentence means something entirely different than intended. Do brain surgeons have to deal with that kind of pressure? Pilots? Rocket scientists?  Gardeners? People who make soup?

It's hard to hold up, but somehow I do. I gather my strength from my family and my unshakeable faith in that religion Madonna made up, and keep soldiering.

Anyway. T.J.'s gazillion turnover fourth quarter was exactly the kind of weird rut he gets into every once in a while that drives the anti-T.J. faction crazy, and leaves guys like me, who think quite highly of him as a player, noting that, yes, when he's bad he's really bad.

On the bright side they were errors of commission - -I'd prefer someone trying to do to much rather than being to shy to step up. But that was a lot of commissions.

So, what's up tonight?

I'm calling for a rare Miami win. As bad as the Heat are they still have D-Wade, who qualifies as the kind of Raptor killer who should be good for 30+ tonight. Mr. Marion will be running around chasing down loose balls. That and the fact that the Raptors are in a deep rut right now has me predicting a fourth straight loss for the Raptors and the Heat to earn their 12th win of the season -- but second in three games!
