  1. Super Troll from Canada writes: They're fun to watch when they play O like that. Enough with the turnovers tho. I like Gonchar but how dumb was that double minor. Redden actually looked ok. As did Gerber. Everyone had fire, except for Spezza- he's still a pylon.

On the way back. Monday will be defining.
  2. Montreal Montreal from Montreal, Canada writes: Go Montreal
  3. D K from Canada writes: They're baaack. Kinda, maybe , hopefully.

'Montreal Montreal from Montreal, Canada writes: Go Montreal'

I can see how the red jerseys confused you, but it was the Senators that won. Thanks for cheering for them anyways.
  4. Emilio Garazgos from Kanata, Canada writes: Bryan 's back and the boys have gotten some ?!$$ and vinegar back into their blood.

A nice warm-up for the upcoming Western swing.

I hope Gerber gets put in for at least three more consecutive games so that he gets a chance to get his mojo going, unllike Emery who was unable to do it in the five games that he got to play.
  5. lost ontarian from Canada writes: Not bad...no Crosby, Hossa or Fleury and a real helping hand from Gonchar, but a decent exhibition of offense for the Sens. Now they need to step it up a notch and win against a rather healthy squad on Monday. Big test. Not the end of the world but a litmus test none the less. The goalie wars continue for now too. Think Murray will leave the winner (Gerber) in to see how long the streak lasts or go back and forth and keep the speculating alive?
  6. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Where are the yappers. Where are the big yappers. Rob C from Roze Dung, the American Yapper from Detroit. Where are the yappers now. Cum on boys, lets hear it. B T W. Detroit yapper, what did your team do at home last night? 4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 dogs, watch em lose.

  9. Ryan M from Canada writes: Good solid win today. Great to see Vermette fired up like that, Lapointe was throwing his weight around as well.

Some terrible calls, though. What a phantom call on McAmmond...just brutal. So frustrating to watch.

Looks like Murray is reaching the guys now. Just in time. Anaheim on Monday will be a tough test.

This was a much-needed win, that's for sure. weak goal on Gerber by Sykora, but Emery would have easily let that in as well. Not happy about our goaltending.

    GO SENS GO!
  10. Rob C from Rosedale, Canada writes: Here's my 2 cents: don't kid yourself Claude- the sens still suck! The glimmer twins aren't the only problem with that team - they need a collective heart transplant. They should have been selling at the deadline - but, no one wants to play there, so you know, why bother? - which, coincidentally, appears to be their team motto
  11. Mariposa Belle from Leacockland, Canada writes: I think Spezza needs extra work in practice or the bench for a couple of games until he learns something mysterious that he doesn't understand.

    It's called backchecking.

Agree with Emilio, Gerber should play this road trip, even though I have been dfending Emery as Number 1. Neither has proven that they are solid, this is Darth's chance.
  12. Leafs smoke senaturds in 1st round AGAIN from Canada writes: Still laughing at that 5-0 beating these senaturd clowns took at the hands of the superior Leafs.....outplayed even worse than the 3-0 thumping they got last time they faced the Leafs. Cpt Krusty for Sweden's national diving team.....choke, gag, sputter, choke, spit, chug, fart, choke, sputter, cough, choke, sputter, sputter, fart.........toooo funny...
  13. Arron D from Stan's Home, Canada writes: Limps Smoked by the Sens, enjoy your couple wins. In a couple weeks, the Limps will be done for the year, while the Senaturds will still be on the ice.

The Sens are coming out of a down turn, the difference between Ottawa and Toronot is that Toronot's down turn started in training camp and will end the first week of April, while Ottawa's down turn is only 10 games or so long.

Ottawa is starting to look like a team again, a nice change, and I agree with Mariposa, I was wondering where Spezza was after his give away, how hard would it have been to pile into the back of Malkin to throw off his aim even?
  14. Robin C from Forest Hill, Canada writes: Yeah, where ARE those yappers? ---uhhh, 3-2? Leafs.
  15. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Rob. Keep ur 2 cents. Ur opinion is as worthless as 2 pennies. Hey jerk, this is Canada, u can have any opinion you want, so can I. Ill be in Ottawa this fall for a special occasion. Closest to your dump Ill get is the 407 W and 407E on the way back. Cant even be bothered to buy a Tim's in that city. So how was the bunny patch today, make a couple twists and turns. Look like a bunny. Feel like a bunny, are a bunny.
  16. g h from Canada writes: Go senaturtles. Hey even a blind pig will root up the occasional acorn.
  17. Mariposa Belle from Leacockland, Canada writes: Given the number of penalties the Sens killed off in the second, it was a good game for them.

Good physical game by the team - they have to remember that when they hit the left coast.

I would like to see the killer instinct that was a part of the first quarter of the season return.
  18. Silver Dart from Canada writes: Okay there, Leafs smoke. Whatever.
For everyone else who likes having a real conversation, glad for the win tonight, but still lots of room for improvement. Sure wish we could have dealt a goalie before the deadline, but I was happy with the trades Murray made anyway. Onward and hopefully upward.
  19. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Mariposa.. Question. Will the Sens be in the LA Lakers box seats with all the trimmings as the Leafs had in Dallas. Booze, Pizza, Babes, Limo's, then come out and get shellacked. Or the fishing and golfing in Florida, twack, twack, come out and lose more games. Think the Sens will be conservative, get to see some sights but keep the thoughts on hockey. May win, may not, but will not lose sight of what life's all about. Example getting paid $72G a game and score goals on your own net.
  20. Leafs smoke senaturds in 1st round AGAIN from Canada writes: ...or even a blind 'chicken' will find the odd kernel of corn.
  21. Mariposa Belle from Leacockland, Canada writes: Dear Proud Canadian - If the Sens had continued as they did in the first quarter, Paddock may have had a golf tourney somewhere. That is not the case now. I suspect Murray will have them in team meetings and practices.

This western swing comes at a good time - I see it as a training camp for the playoffs. Come out of this winning, the team can continue - come out of this limping ... it makes it that much more difficult for Stanley to come Home.
  22. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Mariposa. Agree
  23. Leafs smoke senaturds in 1st round AGAIN from Canada writes: ...last game Leafs 5-- senaturds 0. Previous game, Leafs 3--senaturds 0. Playoffs. Leafs 4--senaturds 0. Leafs 13 Stanley Cups--senaturds 0. The only stat ottawa leads in is number of professional sports franchises lost--3, and counting. National capitol?...More like national joke.
  24. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Leafs smoke. In the last 17 years, Toronto Zero cups. In the last 41 years, Leafs Zero Cups. In the next 15 years, Leafs Zero Cups. Math is the same Zero Cups for the Leafs. Zero Cups.
  25. Mariposa Belle from Leacockland, Canada writes: Silver Dart - I was hoping GM Murray could sort the goalie situation at deadline. Didn't happen, we go with the team that went to Lord Stanley's Dance last year.

I have asked Eugene to keep Bryan as coach and install Mariposa as GM. My first move would be to move Spezza, if only to get that stupid jewellery ad off local television.
  26. Fester Boyle from Bert's, Barbados writes: Although the Sens still commit too many turnovers, they played with determination for the entire 60 minutes. A good omen - Murray must be getting through to the team. Since the Sens are highly likely to make the playoffs, the rest of the season could be looked at as pre-season to the playoffs, a time to tune up and make the necessary adjustments. Alfie's back. I liked Lapointe even though he took 3 penalties. The Kelly-Stillman-Vermette line plays really well and is a constant threat. However, Murray needs to get through to Spezza, his through-the-legs and behind-the-back passes never work and only lead to turnovers. In the off season, he should be traded for a real center. I don't think he will outgrow his immaturity, at least in the next few years. Good luck in the West. Unfortunately, it will be too late too watch as work takes priority.
  27. Mariposa Belle from Leacockland, Canada writes: Fester - work take priority? - over commenting on wire stories with little information to debate. You refuse to keep us updated form Bert's.

As Eugene's new GM, we need to have a discussion.

It will take me about 2 months to steam down ther, once the ice clears off the lakes.
  28. Fester Boyle from Bert's, Barbados writes: Mariposa, I don't comment on wire stories, only on games I watch (only missed 5 this season). When you're down here, we can discuss - ask Bert to point me out.
  29. Howard Young from Canada writes: If you compare this win against Pittsburgh to the one against Pittsburgh last week, it was like a different team was out there despite the same result. They came out ready to play with some intensity and you can tell that Pittsburgh didn't like being on the receiving end of it. When one of the Penguins sprayed ice in Gerber's face early in the 1st period and Phillips jumped all over him, that was great. Overall, I was happy with everyone's performance except Spezza. I think Fisher deserves a promotion to the 1st line with Alfie and Heately. Kelly has good chemistry with Vermette and Stillman so I would put Spezza on the 3rd line. Redden played well, to my pleasant surprise. I would like it if the team took a few less penalties. Truthfully, I don't think Ottawa will beat the Ducks on Monday but if they play smart and keep the game tight that will still be something can build on as part of the west conference swing.
  30. Hap Stokes from Canada writes: Ottawa Canada--BREAKING NEWS. In a hard fought defensive contest in Canada's Capital, The Ottawa Senators defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 105-104 in an NBA Eastern Conference game.
  31. garlick toast from Canada writes: spezza's a floater and his jewelry ad is tacky.the sens should have picked up cujo.
  32. Badges? We don't need no stinking badges from Canada writes: Leafs smoke Senaturds...Ottawa's got 11 Cups, two shy of Toronto's 13.
  33. James C from Chaozhou, Guangdong, China writes: 'Arron D from Stan's Home, Canada writes: Limps Smoked by the Sens, enjoy your couple wins. In a couple weeks, the Limps will be done for the year, while the Senaturds will still be on the ice.

    ----------

agreed. the sens have played as bad as they can, and they're still near the top of the standings, while the leafs have played their best and are still in 20th place. whats up with that? LOL
  34. Hap Stokes from Canada writes: What does it matter if Ottawa/Mtl/Boston/Pittsburgh win or lose in the Eastern Conf they are just going to be smoked by which ever team wins the Western Conference. Sorry Brodeur (don't mean you) but those eastern goal tenders are like 'Sieves' playing behind fixed D Men best described as 'scare crows' on ICE instead of standing in a cornfield.
  35. Leafs smoke senaturds in 1st round AGAIN from Canada writes: Hey Badges, senaturds have been in the league what 15 or 16 years, I don't recall any Stanley Cups, so I assume you are refering to the October cups. Better raise that October banner to the rafters girls, its the only one you'll get before the 'turds move to a real city that can support a professional sports franchise. As I said...Leafs 13 Stanley Cups----senaturds 0.
  36. Frank Godfrey from Canada writes: Hey, good to see all eastern teams win. Especially, it's good to see the Sens win. No joy in watching them tank so badly to the benefit of the Habs. All 3 teams in the playoffs ? Which would want to avoid TO ?
  37. Badges? We don't need no stinking badges from Canada writes: Leafs smoke Senaturds....Sure, the Sens won 11 Cups, the last being in 1927. Actually they are tied with the Leafs if the two Cups the Toronto Arena's (1918) and the Toronto St. Pats (1922) are left out of the Maple Leafs total. Maybe the Montreal Canadiens should include the Cups won by the Montreal Wanderers (4), Montreal Maroons (2), Montreal Victorias (4), Montreal Shamrocks (3) and the Montreal AAA's (3) in their totals...giving them 40 Cups. Naaah...the Habs wouldn't mess with the numbers.
  38. lost ontarian from Canada writes: Ok then, It seems we need a Handbook for Sens Fans Blogging. Feel free to add to it.

Rule 1. Please sens fans..we should stop referring to Cups won before WW2. Kinda desperate validation which reminds us of the Leafs n Cubs n such.

Rule 2. Sens fans should not say things like..'Yeah but we beat the Leafs..or the Kings or the Lightning.' Something like celebrating a miliary victory over Switzerland.

Rule 3. Don't ignore obvious weaknesses. 'Spezza is awesome' and 'Emery is our best goalie' or the such sounds like 'We can get 3 First rounders and two starters for Sundin'.

Feel free to add to the realistic Sens fan handbook.
  39. Gordon Howe from HockeyTown, United States writes: loud canadian always yappin when you win but like any weasel you run for cover whee you lose. I'm not suprised. Loud where are you guys in the standings anyway. Last time I checked you were in 4th?? The Wings are still in 1st. That's a position those chokin hens will never see the rest of the year. So keep on yakkin when you win the odd game and disappear when you lose most of them. You're 13-17 in your last 30 games. Wow you're chewin up the league there. During that time you've gone from 1st to 4th and your yakkin has died down too during that time. Besides that you said last week you'd given up on your mighty Hens. Typical bandwagon jumper. They win a game and you think you've won the cup. The Wings with the best defence in the NHL is missing guys that your Hens would kill to have. The Wings are hanging in unlike you chokers who missed one guy here and there and choked reeeel good. You get those guys back and add new guys by trades and what did the Hens do?? They choked reeeel good. Check your old goals against bud and see the problem that's mounting for you. That sound you hear is that jet you've been yakkin about and it's loaded with Hens clucking home to parts unknown.

In case you haven't noticed the sport is hockey not golf ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So DK you're telling me you're happy to go to the finals once and not win? Sounds like a typical senaturd fan. You just love to choke you've NEVER WON ANYTHING. Teams with less time than you in the league have won the cup. Are you mad now cause your overpaid prima donas are choking to their tee off time after they get smoked by the Leafs in the first round? Facts are facts everytime the leafs play the senaturds we kicked their butts. It'll be the same this year. Interesting that the records are the same since the big winning streak when all the turd fans were crowing. That tells me the Leafs are on the upswing and the senaturds are on the way down. Seems kinda ironic doesn't it. All the old Leaf fans that jumped on the senaturd bandwagon will be jumping back on with the Leafs after the sweep of your turds in the playoffs.

Second place is just the first loser.

The senaturds haven't won ANYTHING. That means they've WON NOTHING, NO CUP, ZIP, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA......

Robin C- so obsessed with the Sens. Time to comment despite having plenty to worry about down at 40 Bay Street where the biggest joke in all of pro sports resides. Oh I forgot- shhhhhh- don't say anything negative- you'll get banned from the ACC.
  52. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Gordon Howe, how many wins for the Dead Wings in the past 10? The number is 1. Get some friends yet? Here are 3. Fred Flinstone, Barney Rubble and Omer Simpson. Get 4 tickets, 4 dogs, 4 soda's for $99 and take your 3 buddies to the game.
  53. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Super Troll, Lunchbucket Jerk and Robin C want to be Sens fans. We were a new team in the league 17 years ago, yes, we have not yet won the cup. But in the last 40 years, which team has been to the finals at least once? Which team was at the big party but in the end did not get the nicest gal to dance with? Which team is still a contender, which team will be in the 2007 playoffs. After they get this all figured out, which player is the best Martinini mixer? Which one is the best SAS A 340-600 1st officer, and which player (who makes $72G a game no less) is the best golf ball hitter into the water at Angus Glen. Super Troll, we got it all figured out. We know the correct answers. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We may not get to the big party this year, but we will at least have a chance to compete. Our season will not be over in the first week of April. Right!!!!!
