Roger S from Canada writes: That's easy. Now I wonder why the team like Minnesota or Indiana should belong in NBA.

Jake ---- from Canada writes: Solid game the Raps were great on the offensive glass. Hopefully 3 more easy wins that puts them 11 over 500. Should put them in good postion for a 3rd or 4th seed. Orlando will probably have trouble in the secound half.

Another Opinion from Toronto, Canada writes: For Roger S: I'm not sure if I understand your attempt at wit. Are you remarking on the records of those two teams or the fact that the Raptors beat them?
Because if you're talking about their records, Toronto has had seasons easily worse than Indiana is doing this year... and if its about the Raps beating them, the Raps have also beaten the Spurs, Celtics, Mavs and Magic this season.
The Raps beat a team they were supposed to beat. I'd love to see them match up against Orlando in the first round.- Posted 27/02/08 at 10:21 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

andy c from Canada writes: rog. ten years ago the roles were reversed where the pacers were competing for a championship and the raps resembled a Dleague team with damon running the point. to be fair the griz were in the same position and look where they are now; as for tonite's game i missed q1 and was honestly not paying much attention in the second half (twas an uninteresting game)

Yertu Damkule from Canada writes: Another/andy - i wouldn't waste your energy trying to decipher anything rog has to say. he just has a hard time posting anything positive when jose isn't leading the way. y'see, he's not really a raptor fan, he's a jose fan...whether they win or lose is inconsequential, it only matters how jose does. so, in last nights game, even though jose played well, so did TJ, and that sort of rains on rog's parade. unlike most of us, who can compliment & criticize any player given the circumstances, rog has backed himself into a corner, and can only praise jose/criticize TJ. if he can't justify praising jose or criticizing TJ, he usually just posts some silly comment about how the team they just beat shouldn't be in the league, or would be beaten by an NCAA team (as he did following the indy game). basically, it's a way for him to marginalize TJ's impact when he (TJ) has a good game.
good times.
oh, and minny beat UTAH the night before, so while going on the road for a back-to-back is difficult & they weren't expected to win, they do have some talent (& were 7-9 in their last 16 before last night).
but thanks for coming out, numbnuts.- Posted 28/02/08 at 7:04 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Joseph Daniel from Oakville, Canada writes: It was a win that they were supposed to get. Yertu you are right on the money about our friend. I am a bit dissapointed with his commentary today. He has a love/hate relationship with this team. Loves everything calderon hates everything TJ. Anyway yes it was a win that they should have and now they need to take care of business with Indy and finnish off a decent month. A few blips in this month (ie losses to clippers and knicks). March is going to be a brutal month but the good thing is the consistancy is starting to show in this team, largely due to health. With the two pg's running the floor it really does help the second unit out. Lets hope they are healthy for the stretch run and perhaps a 3 seed is not out of the question. Then we can hook up with Washington in the playoffs, Glibert and Jose can get acquainted. Also we raptor fans can have fun with arenas on the floor.

Big Cayman from South Toronto, Canada writes: Be careful Yertu, Rich Chan is going to come out and start defending his boyfriend, and accuse you of starting the Jose/TJ debate, and at the same time try and pretend how much he likes having 2 good point guards to not make himself look like he prefers one over the other, then he will finish with some platitude like "It was a good win"

Rich Chan from Vancouver, Canada writes: My first immature comment goes to the most immature and sensitive person on the thread Big Cayman. I didn't even mention anything about the game but now that I read your comment, I'm happy to take over Roger S' infamy at this point in time, cuz your a dingbat yourself who seems to follow TJ's wad wherever he goes.
As for the game, I watched up until the 3rd quarter, and then caught some of the highlights at a lounge. It was a great overall performance by the Raptors offensively and I was happy to see 5 players in double digits for the winning team. My happiest stat to see is that we actually out-rebounded the team 37-33 so it was positive to say the least.
I feel that we can get to the 3rd spot like Joseph Daniels believes as well, but what I don't want is for Cleveland to slip below Washington. If we do happen to end up in 4th or 5th, I'm hoping that Cleveland gets to 3rd. I just feel that Lebron will turn it on in the playoffs, and they will at least pass the first round (I just hope Toronto isn't a casualty here). All this talk from Paul Jones about Cleveland catching lightning in a bottle last year is really ridiculous from my point of view because they have been slowly getting better if you look historically at their playoff run in the last couple of years.
Other than that, I feel if we play anybody else in the East except for Boston, Detroit or the team above, I feel we can beat them. Thoughts?- Posted 28/02/08 at 1:07 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

andy c from Canada writes: rich; i'm thinking every playoff team in the east will probably say then can ball with anyone in the east with the exception of detroit and boston. i'm tempted to put the cavs on that list but i really didn't like that trade they made and i've not seen them play as of yet; dont' know if you saw but caron butler (sp?) is hurt so the chances of the wiz catching the cavs will be very slim (our match up with washington should have happened last year)

Rich Chan from Vancouver, Canada writes: I hear you Andy, I was pretty pissed off last year when Chicago lost to New Jersey and set us up to play them in the first round. I was swearing at Carter and Mikki Moore the whole time, but that's what happens with history. They got when they got, but wouldn't it be funny if we did get New Jersey in the first round? It could very well happen again if we catch 3rd and Washington spirals down like last year and New Jersey takes the 6th spot. This time around, I would say the Raptors have them.

Rich Chan from Vancouver, Canada writes: No sorry Big C, didn't have a chance to catch Girlicious, which is completely unrelated to our topic right now, besides, I watch Girlicious cuz I enjoy looking at hot chicks. Don't know about you though. Sorry Big C, none of the chicks on that show are actually men that look like TJ, so I guess it's not up your alley.
Anyways, that was a great article Jake. I always thought that Hollinger must have some vested interest in the Raptors because he places their value in his power rankings as unusually high all the time, but I guess now we know why. It's true, the Raptors do bully people with offense, the problem with us though is that when we get bully backed, we tend to back down except for a few key games here and there. Our team is pretty awesome though to say the least, and we actually have a pretty decent depth that takes other teams by surprise still.- Posted 28/02/08 at 3:01 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Big Cayman from South Toronto, Canada writes: "No sorry Big C, didn't have a chance to catch Girlicious, which is completely unrelated to our topic right now" You're the one who brought up watching that show instead of the Raps - Indiana game the day before, and you're the one who uses language like, ..."My happiest stat..." . Pretty sure Chan that you and your boyfriend Roger S watch Girlicious together and discuss what nail polish would match your Calderon jersey. RE: "...besides, I watch Girlicious cuz I enjoy looking at hot chicks..." Don't get all defensive, as long as you're ok with who you are, no one here is going to judge you for it.

Yertu Damkule from Canada writes: hollinger's power rankings are based on statistical analysis - most other power rankings are completely subjective in nature, which is why john's rankings tend to have the raps higher than they really are. margin of victory, as he mentions in his article, is a significantly significant predictor of future success, part of the reason it's given a heavy weighting in the analysis. he also takes factors most others ignore or overlook (SOS, recent play, efficiency, etc.). what i've found is that most guys who write power rankings place the teams in order of who would beat who, on a neutral court...so, in theory, the #1 ranked team should beat everyone else, #2 should beat everyone but #1, and so on. hollinger's power rankings don't place much, if any, importance on subjective measures, and simply look at the stats...which is his forte. andrea played an andrea game (consistently inconsistent)...nothing special, showed some signs. he's coming around. he's probably never going to be an allstar, which will disappoint many, and on a team that has so many offensive weapons/options, he's likely never going to put up big-time numbers. as long as he's a raptor, he'll be 2nd fiddle (at best) to bosh, so if he can get his scoring avg up to the mid- high-teens and continue to develop defensively & on the boards, he'll have a successful career...but more importantly, the raptors will be successful. remember when that was what mattered?

Rich Chan from Vancouver, Canada writes: Wow Big C, I'm impressed how you write two posts and not one of them have anything to do with the Raptors but get on my case about a post I put up two games ago. That's just great man. Obviously you have nothing else to talk about unless somebody gets on your case about your boyfriend TJ. Other than that, you are a blank tabula rosa when it comes to anything else. But you are right about judging people and preferences, so I'll just overlook your gay-ness and try to find some other merit in you. So, with that said, can you please talk about something other than Girlicious or about people bashing TJ. Is there anything else in that small head of yours?
