DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche have taken another step back in time.
The Avs re-acquired defenceman Adam Foote on Tuesday from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a conditional first-round draft pick and a fourth-round selection.
Foote spent 13 years with Quebec/Colorado and won Stanley Cups with the Avalanche in 1996 and 2001.
"Colorado has always been a special place for me and my family," said Foote. "I have some amazing memories of my time there and the fans have always been great. I'm looking forward to getting back and helping the team compete for a playoff spot."

Colorado brought Foote back one day after announcing it had re-signed free-agent forward Peter Forsberg, who was also part of the two Stanley Cup teams in Denver.
Foote left the Avalanche for Columbus as a free agent after the NHL lockout. In 986 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Avalanche and Nordiques, the 36-year-old has 283 points (65-218).
He was also part of Canada's gold-medal win at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.
