Roger S from Canada writes: Labron James is the best basketball player in the league, all other NBA stars have distinct distance from him, including Kobe, Wade, Kidd, or..whoelse.
James can bring back NBA championship trophy for many teams (if not with Cleveland), Mark Cuban should trade himself for Labron.- Posted 18/02/08 at 8:39 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Big Cayman from South Toronto, Canada writes: That was one of the best all-star weekends I have ever seen, the final game was fun to watch, the entertainment value was exceptional. RE Dunk Challenge; I thought Jamario Moon's first dunk didn't get the props it deserved and it would have been nice to see what else he had in store, nevertheless Howard was incredible. The rookie sophmore game was a great preview of the future of the NBA (this future is in good hands). Sean Williams was very impressive and is still a very raw talent, he'd look amazing in Raptors Red. Every Raptor involved in the Allstar weekend showed up except for one, and while its a meaningless weekend, it was a missed opportunity to make a statement amongst his peers.

Bubba The Pas Huskies from The Pas Manitoba, Canada writes: Sorry, I don't get the all star weekend. Its a form of entertainment, similar to Entertainment Tonight or People magazine, but nothing to do with the sport of basketball. The NBA falls into the same trap as the NHL, NFL and baseball, trying to turn team games into a 48 minute highlight reel. The games (rookie challenge and the main event) lack intensity, competitiveness and most importantly, meaning. Fans cheer cus the game means something. Wins and losses add up to success and failure. Hot dogging looks good on the outdoor court with your buddies, but doesn't do a thing for the NBA fanbase.
To paraphase M.Enright from another blog earlier, I think the NBA all star weekend has jumped the shark...- Posted 18/02/08 at 1:12 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Bubba The Pas Huskies from The Pas Manitoba, Canada writes: But on the other hand... All star weekend can serve to highlight specific causes and issues. Note Steve Nash and his recycled Nike shoes. See Friday's expose's on the ongoing rebuilding problems that New Orleans continues to endure. Kudo's to TNT with their presentation and positive comments from Burbon Street. Those are the positives that come from celebrity being used properly. Unfortunately the game itself takes a minor backseat role to networks ratings game. Sex sells, as does star power. Sometimes we do see the star power being used effectively, Nash being one who gets it and causes other stars to up their game in helping others. I gotta go get a hanky...get'n all teary eyed here...must be the new holiday I'm enjoying!

Rich Chan from Vancouver, Canada writes: I'm actually glad of how the all-star weekend turned out. I enjoy watching the three-point shootout, the skills challenge and the slam dunk competition. I just think that they should do away with shots from different parts of the court and then the long half-way through the court. I think it would be better if they brought back the two-ball competition with different markers on the court for different points and a certain amount of time to make shots. The winners getting the most points.
Maybe they should do the best shooters from the WNBA and NBA to do a shooting contest as well.
Other than that, the all-star festivities were fun, and though I wanted the Jamario to win the dunk-ff. I thought it was a good night for a change in the way the dunk contest was done. Kudo's to Dwight Howard's creativity.- Posted 18/02/08 at 1:52 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Rich Chan from Vancouver, Canada writes: Actually, what I would really like to see is a coach's all-star game just involving the coach's from the East against the West. That would be fun to watch. Sam Mitchell vs. Phil Jackson would be hilarious, one on one.
