David P from stuck in Calgary, Canada writes: Rolen can test his shoulder by seeing his jab snap Gibby's head a few times...
Unless the Jays starting rotation can have someone other than Halladay win on a consistent basis all year long, it won't matter who JP recycles...
I really hope Rolen is healthy - he can be a productive player and hopefully can provide some consistent offence as well as the occassional really good play in the field...I'm not sold on Eckstein - I think that his limited range will be a factor on the turf - he's great when the grass slows the ball enough he can get to it, but I'm not so sure he can cope well on that crap in the Skydome...- Posted 16/01/08 at 12:42 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

A non-Imus from Canada writes: Rolen "did not get along with" his two previous managers? How cute. It's interesting to watch as the Toronto sports media dances around the term "clubhouse cancer" when they talk about this guy. Just what A.J. Burnett needs, a fellow headcase. Watch your back, Gibby.

Ryan Campbell from Winnipeg, Canada writes: I feel this is a strong move by JP. Glaus was not the player which he had previously been. We all know that he was a real "gamer" by playing through the pain of his foot injury, but that sort of injury, on the turf, without "aides" to get him recovered faster has really aged him and dimished his potential for 2008-2009. I would much rather see a solid (above average) defender hit .290 with 15-20 bombs than Glaus' .255 with his boat load of K's to kill rallies. I think Rolen is a definate upgrade, and will fit nicely in the 6-8 slots.
My projected line-up would look something like this:
Eckstein
Rios
Wells
Thomas
Overbay
Hill
Rolen
R.Johnson
Zaun/Thigpen
With the solid rotation that developed last year, Halliday, AJ, McGowan, Marcum & Litsch/Chacin/other.... Without the mirad of injuries that the jays suffered through last year.....perhaps this is finally the year that the wildcard is within their sights.- Posted 16/01/08 at 2:29 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
