Scott Rolen will get a fresh start with the Toronto Blue Jays if he clears a medical examination and the Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals can work out some last-minute financial details.
So will Troy Glaus and his plantar fasciitis.
Sources say the Blue Jays and Cardinals have agreed on a swap of high-priced, right-hand hitting injury-prone third baseman, pending each player passing a physical examination.
Rolen has chafed under Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa and had been limited by nagging injuries in recent years.
He has three years and $36-million (U.S.) left on his contract.
Both Glaus and Rolen waived no-trade clauses to get the deal done.
