PARDUBICE, Czech Republic Nikita Filatov scored twice Saturday to help Russia beat the United States 4-2 and take the bronze medal at the under-20 World Ice Hockey Championship.
Russia the finalist for the last three years and the United States the 2004 champion had to settle for the third and fourth places after losing Friday's semifinal matches.
Russia jumped to a commanding 4-0 lead behind first-period goals by Alexei Cherepanov, Evgeni Kurbatov and Filatov and another one by Filatov 1:30 into the second period, his fourth at the tournament.
Rhett Rakhshani replied with the first goal for the Unites States midway through the second half and Jordan Schroeder added a power-play goal with 6:21 remaining.
The United States beat Russia 3-2 in the preliminary group stage a week ago.
