    Hang in there boys.
  5. Billy Biroux from Polar Bear Pit, Nunavet, Canada writes: 4-0!
I leave for 5 minutes and they score two goals.
    Must have been bang bang.
    Goodbye USA.
  6. Larfing Outloud from Virgin Islands (British) writes: Where is joe cormorant?

Earlier he was cheering for the USA to win this game.

Must be crying in his diaper. What a picture that makes.

  8. Dennis Manning from Windsor, Canada writes: C A N A D A 4 usa 1

Great team effort! Mason did the job!!
  9. MQ9 Reaper from Canada writes: Congratulations Team Canada! But nothing's over till it's over - so come prepared for the Swedes in the final and Win the GOLD!
  10. Allan Simonson from Canada writes: Good luck boys!
  11. Billy Z from Atlanta, United States writes: We're proud of you boys, way to go!
  12. tom h from Canada writes: Wow, what a great game... I didn't think Canada had it in them, and also thought they should've started Bernier... but Mason and everyone sure showed me... and I couldn't be happier about that! Good luck in the finals!
  13. W K from Canada writes: Heart and Desire! That is what these kids have. As opposed to the millionaire bums that went to Turin and never even bothered to show up.
  14. ray ittac from Canada writes: Ok...collective apology to the coaching staff...great game Mason. Obviously, the two best teams in the tourny are where they should be...in the final. I believe kudos must go to the coaching staff as they executed a great game plan. Killed the outside game the US has shown they excel at...limited their ability to cycle...took away rebounds for the most part using Mason's glove and capitalized on opportunities. Darned shame to see so many empty seats down low...heck if you can't sell them, save face by giving them away at game time and at least looking good on TV!
  15. Dan Radu from Canada writes: I love the fact this years team isn't a powerhouse. They've had to earn each win and once again they dug down deep to thump the States. That's Canadian hockey.
  16. Ian Gunn from Minneapolis, United States writes: Congrats to the Canadian team! A rematch with the Swedes should be a great game! TSN.ca here I come...
  17. Gary Dare from Portland, Oregon, Canada, writes: Ian, bad news ... it's blocked for viewers outside of Canada. US rights are in the hands of the NHL Network, hopefully your digital cable tier in the Twin Cities has it ...
  18. L. W. from Greener Pastures, Canada writes: The way the U.S. played in the round robin I was expecting a tougher game today. I have to say kudos to both teams for putting up with European on ice officials as well as they did. The European countries put a lot of time snd effort into deveoping players. One would think that they could put at least a bit of effort into properly training referees and linesmen.
  19. L. W. from Greener Pastures, Canada writes: Soory for the dropped letters in some of the words.
  20. ray ittac from Canada writes: Was watching some hi-lites from the game and I must admit I am quite perplexed at how the US coach threw in the towel. He stopped coaching at 4-0 even though his team did not stop playing. Credit to the US kids for battling to the last whistle for another goal but you have to shake your head at the coach who did zilch over the last seven minutes to try to help his team. Left the goalie in, didn't use his timeout (something Maurice is still hearing about after the last game in Pitts) and seemed to simply stare straight ahead. Puzzling move by a coach who had the international spotlight on him.
  21. Dawn from Minnesota from United States writes: Congratulations to the Canadian team!
  22. ray ittac from Canada writes: L.W. must agree that the officiating was average and the third goal hurt but 2 penalties for too many men (one with 6 guys inside the blueline for God's sake) in a semi-final elimination match!!! That's nerves man! Pressure got to someone.
  23. Ian Gunn from Minneapolis, United States writes: Gary Dare from Portland, Oregon, Canada, writes:

Ack! Wait! This is the 'internets'. I can proxy off a lad or two from Canada, but you didn't hear that from me :)
  24. Rain SCM from Canada writes: Everything is as it should be. Good luck against Sweden.
  25. ray ittac from Canada writes: Hey Dawn from the hockey capital of the US. The US juniors keep getting better and better and eventually......I have to admit I now look forward to the Canadian games against the US (and against Sweden) far more than Russia and any other teams. Physical, fast, intense, passionate hockey...the way it was meant to be played.
  26. Mark Carter from United States writes: We whipped your butts.
It was bad officiating and dirty cheap shots that won ya the game.
  27. ray ittac from Canada writes: Mark Carter from United States: I will now engage in debate at your level: Nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah! You want to take a shot at someone, start with your goaltender and end with your coach. Both quite soft today!
  28. John - from BC Interior, Canada writes: Just a great game from both teams. Today's game was incredibly entertaining, and Mason made believers out of many people with his performance.

After the first few minutes, I thought this was going to be a long night for Team Canada, but they put in their best effort of the tournament so far. Too many miscues by the USA though, and you can't do that against a good team like Canada.

If they play this well against Sweden, they have an excellent chance to win Gold.
  29. harvey jingley from United States writes: Yes, Mark Carter, and the puck flipped over the glass by the US defenseman and the two too many players on the ice penalties...that was crap officiating?

The US was great in the first period and then they caved. Especially in the third.

But a nice game -- just don´t blame the Canadian players.
  30. Michael Sharp from Victorious, Canada writes:

    It's nice kicking Yankee butt.

But it was more fun defeating the Soviet Union.
    The Americans are annoying.
    The Soviets were EVIL.

7 Gold medal finals in a row.
4 Gold medals in a row.

    Oh Canada.
  31. Chris Michaels from Oakville, Canada writes: Thanks to Ian and Dawn for the congrats...quite classy. And I must admit, I love seeing us beat the States...great rivalry.

I too am blown away why the U.S coach didn't call a T.O and get that goalie out of there. They had a PP with over a minute to go (I think), then the 2 man advantage.

Ya got nothing to lose, might as well leave it all out there!?! Never know what can happen if you pot a couple quick ones...hell, just ask the Penguins.
  32. John - from BC Interior, Canada writes: Mark Carter obviously didn't watch the game. If he had, he would have seen the numerous tripping/interference calls that the refs neglected to call on his countrymen.

He must have also missed the poor coaching and mediocre goaltending by Team USA as well, not to mention the number of cheap shots made my members of Team USA.

You got a couple of replies from happy Canadians, so now you can go back to bed and cry us a bucket of tears.
  33. Mr. Justice from Canada writes: Congratulations ! YOU DO US PROUD !

Chris.. Shhh I'm Canadian.. :) It's always good beating my friends the Americans. Though at 3 million to 1, I can't cheer too loud :)
  37. Paul NoLastName from Bloomington, United States writes: Ian ...
make that 3 million to 2 :) and don't worry about cheering too loud -- here in the 'state of hockey' they appear to be just fair weather fans (attendance is down at goofer games, no junior league, attendance down at the wild games, if it weren't for the BOYS HS tourney it would be like living in Florida) ... you going to the pond hockey tourny Jan 18-20 at Nokomis??
  38. Dan L from Canada writes: Mark Carter wrote:

    'We whipped your butts.
It was bad officiating and dirty cheap shots that won ya the game.'

Mark, which game were you watching? Team USA played hard and had many good scoring chances which they simply couldn't finish. Both teams got lucky breaks, unfortunately your team took a couple stupid penalties and lost composure (along with some curious coaching at the end)

Officiating was pretty neutral all in all and HAD NO BEARING WHATSOEVER in the outcome of the game. Frankly your comments are a slap in the face to the kids from team USA. You obviously don't know a whole lot about hockey to make the comments you posted.
  39. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: A great game to watch.
Game was a lot closer than the score indicates.

What was with the US coach giving up? That was sad. Felt for the kids.
  40. ray ittac from Canada writes: Dan L ...'Curious coaching' is a comment his agent would probably use. More appropriately, it should be referred to as a lack of coaching, giving up, tanking it...

Curious would be better used as ...'I am curious as to where his career will go to after today.'
  41. Dan L from Canada writes: Ray, how about 'puzzling'? don't want to gloat nor take away from the fact the game could easily have gone the other way at times.
  42. ray ittac from Canada writes: Lol---review my comments as well Dan. Nothing but positives about the US squad (ok, except the goalie..need to make big saves in big games). I concur...puzzling is appropriate.
  43. Robert Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: The coach usually knows best...

  46. uncle rukus from Mississauga, Canada writes: They talk about Canadian heart in the TSN promo prior to the showing of the game this afternoon and there was alot of that in abundance. The USA team kinda of gave up after Canada went up 2-0 they stopped skating and started making big mistakes. 3-1 Canada in the final as its shows that once again Canada warms up slowly and simmers to a gold by tournaments end.
  47. Canadian Eh from Canada writes: Congratulations Team Canada! We're proud of you!
  48. Kevin Desmoulin from TO, Canada writes: WTG MEN!
  49. Estee Tabernac from writes: Every year there seems to be a goalie controversy and every year the man between the pipes proves everyone wrong. There is still one game to go, but I think it's time to just give Mason a break already.
  50. ray ittac from Canada writes: Always interesting to note that the naysayers, those bitter people who are strangely compelled to trash successful programs like the Cndn junior squad always fail to show up after a big win. They get busy suddenly but, at the first sign of potential problems, gosh darn and golly gee, there they are again. But for tonight, we relax a bit because they hide!
  51. Iain's Opinion from Canada writes: Good show guys! Now it's time to give those pesky Swedes a drubbing. Hit 'em hard, hit 'em often and see if they have the stamina and guts that Canadian hockey teams take around the world. But be clean! Paly nice and have a grrrrrrrrrreat time.
  52. F/A josquin from van, Canada writes: It's just a game for pete's sake-----------and it's on the front page??

It's all misplaced tribalism, and all you yahoos who follow it are boring.

  54. wayne powers from saskatoon, writes: Well I was wrong Hartsburg did change the lineup and good for him.
  55. F/A josquin from van, Canada writes: I see the 'whoo hoo men' are out in force as well.

It's really a mating call, answered periodically by the 'whaaaa hooo girls' at certain times of the month. They then meet at sports bars to consumate their boring union.

    'GO GUYS, WHOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

  57. ray ittac from Canada writes: F/A --- amazing how full your life is that you peruse blogs of things that don't interest you and actually feel compelled to comment on them. What a sad statement. Surely you can find something that interests you and direct that pitiful bitterness elsewhere. Good luck.

  59. MK Euro 2008 Czechs..... from Canada writes: I want to see what will happen tomorrow in the "gold" medal game vs Sweden?

    The Czechs "bowed out" of the Tournament by "beating" Finland 5:1{for the 5th},that basically had beat Canada,in the Q-Finals...then you go figure,who is good or who sucks?[Especially at the junior level?}
  60. harvey jingley from United States writes: UH, MK Euro 2008,

It might be better if you write what youare trying to say in Czech -- it "might" be more coherent.

Are you trying to use those quotation marks in an "ironic" "way"?

    It looks "strange".

Canada beat the Finns and the Czechs at this tournament. No silly quotation marks needed.

    Do toho Kanada! Jsme nejlepsĂ!

    Understand?
  61. Jeff Gulley from Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Canada writes: The one game Canada lost in this tournament, I saw a bunch of Canadians come on and comment how Sweden played a great game, deserved the win, etc. I wish we warranted the same sportsmanship, but maybe it's a Canadian thing.

The USA played a great game up until the quick two goals in the second, which seemed to kill their spirit and boost the Canadians. I was surprised to see all the American fans leaving after Canada made it 2-0. The USA has some really skilled players...mark my words, you'll hear more from these guys in the future. Good game USA...Good luck in the bronze medal match...I'll be cheering for you today.
  62. Jeff Gulley from Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Canada writes: F/A josquin: the human animal still speaks in grunts and makes things with their hands, so I think tribalism is appropriate. It's part of who we are.

What do you do for fun, play chess with yourself? To each their own, but we all know who ends up answering your mating call: Palmela Handerson.
  63. A Leading Edge Boomer from Canada writes: The Canadian Juniors have now assured themselves of a tenth consecutive medal in this tournament. A remarkable achievement! No matter what happens later on today, this team is a success.
A gold medal would be icing on the cake--so good luck, and play well guys!
  64. harvey jingley from United States writes: Will you be at the game, Jeff Gulley?
  65. Jeff Gulley from Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Canada writes: I'll be at both games harvey! I was there for both yesterday too, even though I was sick as a dog. I feel a bit better today, so I should be able to slug down a few beers during the intermissions.

This tournament has been greatly entertaining. Today's gold medal game will be incredible....listen to the crowd....the Canadians I've met over here have been great hockey fans and good guys and gals to hang out with.

    Go USA. Go CANADA!!!

Mr, Euro, Finland did not "basically" beat Canada in the Q-Finals, They lost which is why they played the CR for the honour of 5th place.

For the record Canada is playing in its seventh straight gold medal game in a highly competitive tournament. I think that speaks for itself. Champions win when it counts.
  67. harvey jingley from United States writes: Jeff Gulley, I envy you.

What will you be wearing today -- I will keep an eye out for you! (Be more specific than Red and White!)

How much is a beer in the CEZ Arena and what kind have they got -- local Pardubice beer or from Plzen?
  68. harvey jingley from United States writes: Jeff, just realized if you live in Hradec Kralove and the game is in Pardubice and you want to catch both games than you might already be on your journey.

    Oh, the countdown begins!

  71. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: MK 2008, stay over the creek. With your comments also. Get lost. U have no idea what you are talking about. Where are your Checks in this tournament. U said they would play for gold. Where are they? Answer please. They played for 5h and won, we are playing for 1st. Again, you have no idea what you are talking about, just stay over the creek and keep your comments to people over there. Canada will come home with either Silver or Gold. The Checks went home with NOTHING. NOTHING MK. Again NOTHING
  72. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Folks, here are the facts. Canadian hockey players play with 2 things. Only 2. They have skill, and they have big hearts. No doubt about it. They have skill, they have big hearts. Canadian players love their country, love their countrymen/women (and we love you too guys) and they love their flag. They respect their flag and love to hear O Canada. Thats what makes a winning country. We love you guys, go get em today, pedal to the medal. We will be watching, we will be cheering, giver all u got, we know you will. Win, lose, draw, we love you. Go Canada Go.
  73. ray ittac from Canada writes: MK, MK, MK, MK,.... (picture me shaking my head here)...I told you clearly at the beginning of this tournament, winners are measured in the standings not in our imagination. Winners win....as exemplified by Russia right now, and Canada and sweden later. You can't go home 5th out of 10 declaring victory...not even a moral victory. Your whining about dirty hockey, intimidating tactics etc have been negated in the last 2 games and the best 2 teams are exactly where they should be..in the final. Win or lose, that's the sign of champions, putting themselves in the spotlight at the final game,. Not doing the "could've" or "should've" dance. Your comments are bitter and eventually, one day, Canada will lose this thing but that doesn't vindicate you. The past several years have been a display of dominance in this tourny and may never be paralleled. Give respect where it is due. I'll send you a calendar of this team's accomplishments and you can hang it in your bedroom.
  74. Dan L from Canada writes: F/A josquin wrote:
