  2. Paul B from Canada writes: Remember in 1998 when Canada didn't medal in the Olympics (women finished second to US). Everyone was saying what is wrong with Canadian hockey. The rest of the world had caught up, maybe even passed us in talent, work ethic...
Canada had a blip, just a blip and we have been proving ourselves ever since. We have the most talented, hard working players in the world.
    Keep it going boys.
  3. Henry Allen from East Bank, Don River, Canada writes: Team Canada didn't have much flow to their game today, but played well enough to win. I was very impressed with the Slovak goalie, who made a number of great saves. I was also impressed with the tenacity of this Slovak team, which does not have any quit and are willing to play a tough, physical game. Again, bad ice is causing the puck to bounce and skip. Somebody has to teach Europeans how to make ice. The referees were terrible, calling clean hits as penalties and missing dirty plays. Typically bad IIHF refereeing, except you now have two of them making bad calls.
  4. Rollo Tomasi from Belgium writes: I enjoyed the game, it's like watching NCAA basketball, everyone has energy and works every shift. Mason did a better job as a stand-up goalie. I liked that we played a cleaner game, despite the calls. We won with speed, finesse, and skating hard.
  5. Proud Canadian from Canada, Canada writes: We are the best. Prove me wrong. We are the best. If only all other Canadians would sing the same song, we'd be the best. I need go no further, people on here who know me know my opinion on certain things. Those who do not know me, dont want to hear it. Scotty, Allan, sing the song, we are the best. No doubt about it. Go Canada Go. Giver boys, Pedal to the Medal. Go Canada Go, We are very very proud of you, we are with you all the way. Pedal to the Medal. Good work boys.
  6. Thumb Sucker from Canada writes: Great game, and thanks to TSN for streaming it so I could watch at work!

20 in a row, not half bad!
  7. Wilf Kruggel from Canada writes: I do not care what others think but I still hate the thought of foreign players being put on our junior teams. Let them be seasoned in Europe if their leagues are that great. This is the only time that I agree with hDon Cherry about foreign juniors on any teams from Europe being parachuted by the NHL to any teams over here. End of discussion, Wilf
  8. Proud Canadian from canada, Canada writes: Wilf Kruggel, I totally agree with you. Totally. Stay over there and season, if its not available, too bad so sad.
  9. MK Euro 2008 Czechs..... from Canada writes: Canada beat both Czechs and Slovaks in a so,so performances...It will be interesting to see who wins the whole thing,of course,I beleive the Czechs will...

You should go to Liberec as well,in the mountains where WC in Skiing is just about to start....

All these cities have pro-hockey teams,pro-soccer teams and fan base that knows what recreational sports are about and don't think that they can "buy" skills and desire from somewhere.....

The little junior Canadian hockey teams go overthere also in summer, for dry land training as well.

The best Czechs players actually are the ones who stay over there, don't loose their style of playing and come to NHL as developed players...

The juniors pay huge price for coming to play junior in Canada, become Canadian hockey players and then become unusable in European/Czech system, later on as a result.

Of course, they hope that it will improve their chances to play in the NHL for the huge bucks they are dreaming about...

Most of them are better off staying home and go outside as developed stars,only....

However, money is money and they are free to do it....

In soccer the players don't go anywhere until developed in Czech.
  10. A Leading Edge Boomer from Canada writes: Very impressive of Team Canada to play two games, 16 hours a part and not allow a single goal. Also it brings the Canadian winning streak to 20 straight games, which is a tournament record.
Also congrats to Canada's Spengler Cup team that won again today, beating host Davos.
  11. A Leading Edge Boomer from Canada writes: The European players who play in Canadian Junior hockey and do not make the NHL have other options. There is the AHL, but there is also the pro leagues in Europe such as the Swiss league . Many Canadians also play in the Swiss league, or Italy, Finland. Because of this I do not begrudge allowing the CJHL allowing two imported players per team, as the European pro leagues provide lots of young ( and older) Canadians employment in Europe.
  12. Jeff Gulley from Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Canada writes: Hey Leading Edge Boomer, I don't think the issue is with pro hockey anymore, but with junior hockey development. With pro hockey, business is business, but many people don't see the junior development leagues as such (even though they are still businesses essentially). In that respect I somewhat do agree with Proud Canadian and Wilf. Why not let players stay in their own countries and get developed until they're 18, age of majority, and free to sign with whatever pro team they want? Then I don't think anybody cares how many Europeans come over to North America to play for money (well, some may, but wrongfully so in my opinion). MK, I've been living here for three years now, and you know just as damn well as I know that Czech junior hockey development is not in the same league as Canada's. I wouldn't even now it existed if it wasn't for this tournament. Nobody talks about it. It's never on TV. Not many people care about junior hockey here. Just look at how many of your fans showed up to see Czech play Denmark last night? My girlfriend was embarrassed -- there were more Canadian jerseys in the stands than Czech jerseys, staying after the Canada/Slovakia game. That being said, there are a couple of good danglers on the Czech team this year. Frolik had a natural hat trick in the first 13 minutes -- good show!
  13. Proud Canadian from Canada, Canada writes: MK Euro 2008 Czechs, you are watching the games and seeing life either through a bad prescription pair of contact lenses or something in your system that tends to make you halucinate. When you have an objective post, then come back, otherwise, Im sure you are very knowledgeable of the Check language and Check newspapers, go spill your beans to them. Let the people who know read what is fact not blurred. Thanks.
  14. Billy Biroux from Beaver Station, Labrador, Canada writes: Hey MK.
Thanks for the hospitality your teams are showing us.
    One question.
Do you have anymore patsy's for us to practice on?
    Thanks.

  16. MK Euro 2008 Czechs..... from Canada writes: Hi Jeff,

You are 30 miles from my place in Orlicke Hory-Zamberk...My son played soccer for Spartak Hradec Kralove OEZ Letohrad and daughter for DFC Slavia Hradec Kralove....

In Canada I lived over 23 years west, east and central,so we both know what the countries are all about...

If anything they should be friends, however, just listen to the garbage the TSN reporters keep saying during the games....

I don't have access to a satelite that would broadcast some more interesting production of the hockey games except this "propaganda"...

You know that Czechs do not brag cheaply like this and give other teams what they deserve...You know what everybody knows about and regarding Canadian hockey style and still no one puts them down the way the "a-holes" from TSN put all the other Teams...

See you in summer if you are still there....

    Mirek.
