Czech Republic junior coach Miloslav Horava was not upset that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jiri Tlusty was not released to play for his country at the world under-20 championships here in Pardubice.
Horava said earlier this month he was willing to hold his horses until today (Boxing Day) for Tlusty to join the Czech junior team and held out hope when the 19-year-old forward was demoted to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. But the Leafs recalled the young Czech on Dec. 17.
“I only would have been mad if he was still playing in the AHL and not released,” Horava said.
