When the Canadian juniors begin their run at a fourth consecutive world junior title on Wednesday, they also will be unveiling a new helmet make by Nike Bauer.
Called the 9500, the hockey manufacturer claims it is the most advanced helmet ever developed and took more than three years to make.
Why does Nike Bauer believe it has produced the future of helmets? Well, the company claims that the foam used (FXPP) “absorbs 20 per cent more energy during impact than the same volume of traditional foams found in other helmets.”
The helmet also features a biomechanical shell that creates a personalized fit, a thermo core that keeps the player cooler during games and an advanced locking mechanism that secures the helmet to the head for a full three-dimensional fit.
